I preferred her early pop stuff. I don't much care for her techno/dance stuff.

I think her best song was in "At Close Range"; a great film starring Christopher Walken, the Penn brothers, and Crispin Glover.

I saw that movie. I found it quite depressing. Director James Foley made some good crime dramas about the dark side of humanity.

I preferred her early pop stuff. I don't much care for her techno/dance stuff. Agreed. When she got into that almost baritone voice with "This Used To Be My Playground", that kind of put me off of Madonna.

Not a fan of her music, but you have to give her props on the acumen. She worked hard and made things happen, made correct choices to stay relevant way longer than most pop stars and for the most part, navigated her public image and business pretty darn well.....She has some decent tracks and I like a few of her videos.

My favorite Madonna song is Live To Tell, an excellent tune.
Back in the 80's Madonna drove me crazy cuz I was a rocker, and plus my little sister listened to the Like A Virgin album endlessly. As time has gone on, though, I do feel nostalgia and better feelings towards songs like Holiday and Borderline.
Not my favorite music, but I got mad respect for her.

I think I can relate. My older sister had posters all over her walls of WHAM! and Duran Duran in the 1980s, endlessly played their records, and bought every copy of 'Smash Hits' they were in. I was a rocker in my infancy, gradually getting into punk, and this was the last thing I wanted to hear, so I shut these bands out completely.
Now, years later, I'm a fan of both bands and really dig some of their tunes.
