12/6: Blackberry Smoke Another great show from them, and the first band was good too, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, really good jazz-funk-rock band
12/9: Underoath/Dance Gavin Dance/Crown the Empire Good show, the first band was The Plot in You who were kinda boring, but the other 3 were great- CTE were just as great as always, I enjoyed DGD again, and Underoath were great
12/13: Eve 6 Great time, was so great to hear their first album start to finish, a true timeless classic.. the 2 openers were good too, first one was a girl named Somme, just her singing and playing bass with a drummer, but really good sound, and the second was Party Nails, good female-fronted pop-rock band
12/28: Gov't Mule Really excellent show, I was in the upper level of the Tower Theatre and it was a spectacular view, and they were great, would definitely see them again.. The first band was ok, it was some bassist named Oteil-something, he was a good bassist but his band was kinda boring, and I was getting kind of annoyed with them constantly playing more songs when I just wanted them to finish
12/29: The Genesis Show Another good time from them, this time they played "Seconds Out" in its entirety
And here is my revised 2019 show schedule so far:
1/20: Crack the Sky (70s prog rock band from West Virginia)
2/16: Neal Morse Band
3/3: Alan Parsons Live Project
3/8: Nothing More/Of Mice & Men/Badflower
3/14: Whiskey Myers
3/23: The Musical Box
4/27: Snow Patrol (British alternative band from the mid 2000s)
5/4: Marshall Tucker Band/The Outlaws
5/18: MMRBQ

Saw Disturbed/Three Days Grace in Las Vegas on January 12. Great show! Place looked just about sold out. David Draiman talks to the crowd quite a bit, including his heartbreak over losing some musical friends to suicide and asking people to seek help (including showing the suicide hotline number on the giant screen). His live rendition of "The Sound of Silence" is so powerful and fantastic. They used some fire effects on stage which sent heat right up to my Row Q seats!! The band walked out to a smaller mid-arena stage for a couple of songs midway through.
I'm not that familiar with Three Days Grace but they played an entertaining, energetic almost hour-long opening set.

Those are some killer shows coming up. I dig blackberry Smoke and Eve 6. That's a cool new avatar you have, was that a show you went to recently? And, the upcoming show schedule still says the same, adding Tesla on 4/23, and Crack the Sky got rescheduled to this Sunday due to the winter weather, it didn't snow around here, but it was very dangerously cold and icy

Real good bands

good show from Crack the Sky this past Sunday night, I dunno if you know them or not, they're a 70s prog rock band from West VA, they had a big following in Baltimore in the 80s, and still do.. They have a good sound, good prog rock with a bit of a funk-ish sound here & there.. I enjoyed them a lot and would definitley see them again, this was at the Ardmore Music Hall, the place where I saw Chris Robinson Brotherhood back in November.. You would probably like this place sometime, it's a nice small intimate venue, like a smaller TLA, and Ardmore is a nice town not too far from me

2 new additions to the concert schedule: Paul Gilbert(Mr Big guitarist, also played in Racer X) at Ardmore Music Hall on 6/6, Nita Strauss, Alice Cooper's guitarist is opening, and on 6/25, the instrumental metal band Pelican, at the Boot & Saddle, a small bar on South Broad Street
Also, instead of the Ratt concert in July, I'm considering a horror punk fest at the Voltage Lounge instead, it's called "Killadelphia Slasherfest" and it has a whole bunch of horror-themed punk bands playing, it sounds really fun, sorry but I think I'm more interested in that one, I still love Ratt of course and was glad to see them once, but I really like horror punk and this sounds like fun

Awesome Dokken show! Great set. They had to cut out a song for time purposes but no problem. Metal Mike played a badass set of all Halford solo and Fight material.

Returned from Vegas a few days ago after seeing Tesla on March 30 at the House of Blues. Fantastic show and a great appreciative crowd. My "Shock" CD didn't arrive before the trip, so I had not heard the 3 new tracks they performed. Sounded great!! I was surprised that "Modern Day Cowboy" was the 2nd song they played -- I expected it much later in the set.

Well I've already texted you enough of how much of a great time I had at the MTB/Outlaws concert this past Saturday so I guess I don't need to give a detailed review, but yea it was a great time.. and I just saw this morning that DEEP PURPLE are touring this fall and making a stop at the Tower Theatre on 10/10, tickets go on sale Friday at 10 AM, definitley getting one!
And another addition to the calendar, STP on 9/19, at the relatively new "Met" in Philadelphia, it's an old opera house, used to be called the Metropolitan Opera House, they redid it as a concert theater, looks really nice
Woops forgot to post my Snow Patrol review, that was a good show too, I was in the upper level of the Tower for that, really nice up there, I had a great view, and the opening band was good too, We Are Scientists

Another great time at the MMRBQ yesterday, I was so glad it was a nice sunny warm day and not a gloomy one like it usually is there... We got there around 12:30 or so, found a lot under the bridge that was $25, that's reasonable, much less than 30 or 40 of the lots further up, we had a really nice tailgate, tailgated till about 2 or shortly after and then headed to the window to get our tickets, and then walked around outside till it was time for the VIP room to open, and once it opened, wow was I impressed, it was much bigger and spread out this year with really comfortable couches, and as an added bonus, The Struts came in there for a bit and we got to meet them!! That was so awesome, they were really nice, I would have talked to them more but they wanted to keep the line moving.. We watched The Glorious Sons and Fozzy from the screen in the VIP room, they both sounded good.. Then I just stayed in the VIP room since it was time for the changeover when the lobby becomes really crowded, and then once that was over I went over to the merch booth and got a nice Evanescence shirt, I didn't really like the Shinedown ones they had and they were $40, that's a bit much for a shirt, but I like the Evanescence one that I got, and I also got a free MMRBQ shirt from one of the guys of MMR's morning show, as part of getting a pic with him.. And now onto the main part: I heard Joan Jett while walking around outside, she sounded good I guess, I'm just not really a fan, I like The Runaways but I don't like either her or Lita Ford's solo stuff, but she sounded good I guess.. Then The Struts came on, they were excellent, I really enjoyed them a lot, and then finally, EVANESCENCE, great performance, loved every second of it! And yea, after they were done we were really wiped out and didn't want to wait another half hour for Shinedown, so we just decided to leave early to beat the crowds, smart idea.. Shinedown are great live, but I've seen them like 4 times already and it's the same songs every time pretty much Overall a fun day, but I do think that MMRBQ has kind of a bit of the same problem that M3 has- they just get too much of the same ones a lot, I realize that they have to pick popular ones that they know will sell tickets, but I really wish they would just change it up a bit and stop getting Shinedown/Godsmack/Alice in Chains/etc to play it every few years, just like with M3 always getting Great White and L.A. Guns every year, again, love all those bands, but I just don't like seeing the same ones on it all the time.. But, I digress, I still love MMRBQ of course And, if you just are curious to hear Evanescence, here's a few songs of them I like, I know girl-fronted bands aren't your thing but you're more than welcome to listen to them if you want: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTLzWGIL-iIwww.youtube.com/watch?v=f064cySzKRcwww.youtube.com/watch?v=dKncOpJBLJYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=oCqk25VYKtM

Ok here we go, finally gonna post my Yngwie review, and my Paul Gilbert/Nita Strauss review: Yngiwe 5/25 Great show, first band was called Paralandra, a good female-fronted hard rock band like Halestorm/The Pretty Reckless/etc, I enjoyed them, they did a cover of "I Don't Believe in Love" which sounded great.. Hopefully if this band starts to get more radio airplay they could play MMRBQ next year, hope so, they're perfect for it! Then the next band was Sunlord, a good metal band from NYC, a bit thrash-ish and a bit hardcore-ish, I really liked their sound.. and then finally Yngwie, just as much of a show off as always, lol, but still really good, this was the first time I ever heard him do "You Dont Remember, I'll Never Forget" live Paul Gilbert/Nita Strauss last night Another great time last night, this was at the same venue that I saw Yngwie at, the Ardmore Music Hall.. Killer show, Nita Strauss was awesome, she played an instrumental "Aces High" cover and then a vocal cover of "I'm Eighteen" with her keyboardist singing it, she was excellent, and very hot live of course.. I met her after her set, she's really nice.. Then Paul Gilbert came on, wow was he amazing!!! He is one excellent guitarist!!! Here's my pic with Nita Strauss, I thought you'd like to see it since she plays with Alice Cooper and "The Iron Maidens": www.deviantart.com/atwistinthemyth/art/me-with-Nita-Strauss-800774441And, one more great addition to the upcoming concert calendar: I just got VIP for Crown the Empire for their "Rage Fest" that they're headlining, Sunday 8/11 at the TLA with them, Veil of Maya, Atilla, and a few more metalcore bands, it's gonna be a great time, and I'm looking forward to another VIP meet & greet, they're so much fun aand one more review to add, The Fabulous Thunderbirds last night: Great show, felt great to be back at the Valley Forge Casino, as it turns out they're under new management which isn't booking as many shows so that's why their concert calendar has kinda dwindled, but at least I can still catch one when I can.. The Fabulous Thunderbirds were really good, very blues-y sounding, I enjoyed them a lot and would probably see them again, maybe at Penns Peak sometime..
