Sounds like a great time! I couldn't have left Dokken (even if they were playing Dysfunctional)!! How was Don's voice?
I saw that Loudness couldn't make it due to passport issues -- that's too bad.

Yeah but I knew "Wanted Man" was being played first on the other stage. Couldn't miss that one. It was the song "too high to fly". That was actually the last song so I really only missed 30 seconds of the last song or maybe a minute. Don's voice was the usual. It was ok. He has to sing a lot of things in a lower key but it's been that way for the last 10 or 12 years or so so I knew what to expect. It's still always awesome seeing the band. It was a bit disappointing about the Loudness. But unfortunately this isn't the first time that's happened with them. But I have seen them 3 or 4 times before and they're always awesome. Ratt made the whole weekend for me. Pearcy sounded better than ever. Also forgot to mention how good Tom Kiefer, Dangerous toys, and Autograph were.

Aw man Dangerous Toys were there, that's awesome, what stage were they on? Anyway, here's my review of the Mastodon/Opeth/Eagles of Death Metal/etc day: I missed the first band, Russian Circles, an instrumental band, I got there when Devin Townsend was on, but of course the line was like 3 blocks around the E Factory so I didn't actually see him, just heard him, he sounded good but I was disappointed cause I was looking forward to getting live pics of him, but oh well, I'll see him another time.. Then I finally got in and got a good spot for Eagles of Death Metal, them I really enjoyed! After that I went back out front to get something to eat, ugh, food lines were long and took forever, but the cheesesteak was good so it was worth it, and then I got some ice cream and then went to the merch booths, and this was all during Gojiria's set, meh I just don't really like them at all.. By the time I got back to the stage when they were done it was completely packed, no way I was gonna get as close up as I was for EODM now.. I watched a bit of Opeth and then went inside because it was getting cold out.. They had a big screen on where the indoor stage normally is where they were showing Betty Boop cartoons, haha, so I watched some of those, oh man those are funny, and that is definitely one cartoon that would NOT be allowed on the air today, hahaha.. Then finally Mastodon came on around 9:15, they were excellent, they played till about 10:45.. So overall, a fun day, I hope the E Factory continues to do more outdoor shows, well, they are, but the other 2 this summer I won't be at- Slayer/Lamb of God which I already mentioned, and I think they have a rap one sometime in August but of course you know I won't be at that

That sounds awesome thanks for the review. I haven't seen Mastodon in a couple of years. I would like to see Opeth again.

Mastodon are on Rock Allegiance this year, which I'm highly considering, lots of good bands playing at it, but it's still a bit too far ahead right now.. but anyhoo, here's my MMRBQ band-by-band review, I know I'm 2 weeks late but of course, I'm a procrastinator, here goes: I didn't see any of Stolen Rhodes, we were tailgating and got in right after they ended, then the 2nd band was called Dinosaur Pile Up, I didn't really hear them, but I think they're opening for Chevelle when I see them in July at the Fillmore.. I watched a bit of Rival Sons from the VIP room, not too bad, good 70s-ish hard rock sound, I think they opened for Sabbath last year.. and then speaking of that, of course came Zakk Sabbath.. I watched a bit from the VIP room and then came back out for the last 3 songs, sounded pretty good And now here's all the bands I fully watched: THE STRUTS: Really good! I liked them a lot! Good alternative band with a bit of an 80s glam sound, you actually might like them, their song "Kiss This" has been getting a lot of radio airplay... If M3 ever expands out of getting just 80s bands and gets modern bands that have an 80s sound, they would definitely be great for it! THE PRETTY RECKLESS: Good, this was my 2nd time seeing them on MMRBQ, saw them at MMRBQ 2015.. They're a good girl-fronted hard rock band like Halestorm.. and, as a dedication to Chris Cornell they played the Audioslave song "Like A Stone" BUSH: Good, I enjoyed them.. not sure if you know of them or not, they're a British rock band from the mid-to-late 90s, they were one of my favorites in h.s.. Their biggest hits were "Machine Head", "Comedown", "Everything Zen", and "Little Things" LIVE: Absolutely fantastic! The best performance of the day! So glad to finally be able to see them, one of my favorites for a long time! And yea I've mentioned them to you before, they're a 90s rock band from York PA.. Their biggest hits are "I Alone", "Lightning Crashes", "Selling the Drama", and "The Dolphin's Cry".. And, another Chris Cornell dedication, they played the Audioslave song "I Am the Highway" GODSMACK: Good, same setlist as usual pretty much, we didn't stay for all of their set, only about 4 songs, just got too tired, and more or less just wanted to beat the traffic, the problem with staying for the entire MMRBQ is everyone leaves at once at the end and then it just gets backed up for a while So overall, another great MMRBQ, and for the first time since 2012, it actually did not rain at all! Maybe a spotty shower or two while we were tailgating but nothing too drenching.. Funny, I remember MMRBQ 2012 was also headlined by Godsmack, and it was also held on May 20th, so, I guess as long as MMRBQ is on May 20th and Godsmack headlines, it won't rain Also this was my first time tailgating for a concert, and it was a lot of fun, I enjoyed it! Looking forward to doing it again next year, weather-depending, and maybe for Rock Allegiance if I go..

That sounds good glad you enjoyed. Thanks for sharing. I may have enjoyed that fest. That has some bands I listen to. I didn't know Stolen Rhodes was on there. I've been wanting to see them again for the last 3 years. I think I have a little bit of that live band. Rock Allegiance is selling pretty hot now. The reserved seats are gone I heard. Hard to believe.

Iron Maiden show rocked. The new stuff came off fairly well and they ripped out the classics otherwise.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed.. I forget if you like Ghost or not, since they're opening for them on this tour.. I think Kamelot were on some selected dates of it too
So here's my review of Saturday:
The first band was an instrumental one called Three Trapped Tigers, bleh, didn't like them at all, they were boring.. I like a fair amount of instrumental rock, but their music just wasn't exciting at all... Then came Thrice, who were just as great as always of course, a short setlist but a good one.. Then Rise Against, they were great.. and finally, Deftones, it was pretty yucky out by the time they were on but I still enjoyed em.. So overall a fun night, weather was kinda on and off, it kept alternating from raining to being sunny, and the Festival Pier has sand so because of the downpours earlier in the day it was very muddy there, and of course the bathroom and food lines were long, but that's to be expected at an outdoor concert of course...
And yea, sorry I didn't text you during the show, I had my phone in plane mode most of the show because I wanted to make sure I had enough battery power to Uber home
Aand here is my upcoming schedule:
6/23: Sevendust
6/25: Third Eye Blind
7/13: Chevelle
8/20: The Juliana Theory (pop-punk band from western PA)
8/26: Neal Morse Band
9/14: Offspring
9/28: Epica

Was trying to convince myself it would be too expensive and too long a drive, but f--- it, I'm going to see Iron Maiden.

Seen Metal Church last night...WOW!! Just amazing, what a night. Mike Howe is an incredible front man, the whole sound was just perfect and crowd was in great voice too. Best gig I've been to this year.
Also seen Devin Townsend Project last week...also an incredible show. Not all their songs are my thing but no denying he has some set of lungs and is a genuinely funny guy as well. He'd make a great job at doing stand up comedy if he wasn't an insane guitarist and had the best vocal range I have ever heard.
Both these shows have destroyed my bank balance so only got Anathema, Opeth and Y&T to look forward to the rest of the year. Jealous at you lucky sods that get to see Maiden!

Saw Def Leppard, Poison and Tesla in Vegas on June 17th. Really enjoyed it, although granted, Joe Elliott cannot hit some notes anymore (and he was oddly off-key during "Animal"). Very nostalgic and it was a great crowd. Never been a big fan of Poison, but they were fine. I adore Tesla, and wish they could have played longer than 40 minutes. Very bummed I can't see Iron Maiden in July in Vegas but I can't afford to go back so soon!!

Unfortunately they had a super short set last time I saw them. They were on that big tour with Megadeth. You are seeing Y&T and Opeth. And you got to see Metal Church. That rocks you are lucky too.

Too many tours too many shows. Tesla is just awesome live!

Maybe it was where I was sitting (up in the rafters) but the sound was really muddy through most of it. And I was kind of disappointed that they didn't play old favorites like "Aces High" and especially "Revelations" that I'd seen them play before. Still, some of the new stuff did sound really good and it's a Maiden show after all, so always a fun experience in the long run.

Well yeah Aces high and Revelations are favorites of mine as well. But they did play Children of the damned and Powerslave which aren't always on the set and those were great.

Don't know much about the current line up of Boston apart from Tom Scholz, but that'll be amazing. Also Accept are one of my all time favourite bands. Their most recent albums after UDO left are fantastic so very jealous about that. Enjoy!

I saw him this year and it was amazing! Boston is awesome. The other vocalist nails it big time. It's gonna be a great summer. I hope you can catch some more shows too.
