I love Battletoads and have beaten it a bunch of times. I enjoy the challenge and the diversity of the gameplay. It's definitely not for everyone.

The only thing more fun than toads were Ninja Turtles.

Battletoads is great
I don't get why Paperboy is so loved. I guess the game is decent but there's way better titles on The NES.

Battletoads...ugh. I never got the paperboy love either. Battletoads, it pretends to have good graphics. But it don't. Now, the key word here is don't.
Also, it pretends to have good gameplay, but it don't. Those are the main two things.
I am not sure if that made much sense.

I kind of agree that Battletoads is a little overrated, but there are better holders of that title for the NES. The original Super Mario Brothers and Castlevania come to mind.

Metroid: it's so inferior and unplayable if you don't have nostalgia for it and played Super Metroid first.
Just play the remake on the GBA: Metroid, Zero Mission.

Super Metroid holds your hand a lot more with the automapping and frequent save points. The original is like you really are lost in a hostile alien world. Some might prefer that.

R.C. Pro-Am II >> R.C. Pro-Am
There are countless lists that happily opt for sequels, & yet this one is lost in the wind.

I will say Battletoads is really annoying as a two player game but it's a fantastic single player experience. Unless you suck at it I guess.

Bad graphics? What are your expectations for an NES game from 1990ish? I take it you are too young to have expericed it when it came out. The challenge and gameplay are very varied. You can't even pin a genre on it. It was very innovative and complex for its time as most Rare games tended to be.
