Has anyone got Rogue One and ANH on DVD and watched them back-to-back? I found that they fit together nicely for a great SW home theatre experience. Although you can definitely tell the pacing differences between each movie. And differences in visual effects technology. But aside from that it makes for a good "dualogy".
If you've tried this already I'd like to hear your experience and opinion...

Don't have a copy of Rogue, but if you recommend the back-to-back I'll make a point of watching it when my girlfriend invariably buys the blu ray.

R1 softens the transition....

They literally tie every single thread up and leave us with Luke and the Twin Suns. I've never heard even the bitchiest prequel basher make this assertion.

R1 softens the transition.... R1 for me is purely ANH's prologue, no longer SW 3.5 as was first bandied about. It's completely hitched to the Death Star plans, literally taken from ANH's opening crawl. Nothing about Anakin, Yoda, not even the formation of the Rebellion. In that collective regard, the fact that it plays 'smaller' than an Episode, that the characters aren't really as developed as we're used to, makes it all fine with me. While it is 'smaller' it's arguably the densest SW to date, tension from the opening scene to the end.

It's just "nice" to have Rogue One in between them now.

I have to reflect some more on whether I like it there or not, but I definitely didn't hate it and definitely thought it puts the Death Star over more strongly and as a more significant part of Star Wars, given that we first see the plans in II, the construction in III, and then (in this timeline) its completion in Rogue and destruction in IV.
