Oh, so it's a stalker movie then? Okay...that's boring. They reduce the megalomania and ethical dilemma from HG Wells' classic to "ex-boyfriends...amirite?"
TEXT:
The synopsis reads, "What you can’t see can hurt you. Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (Us, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) stars in a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character."
It continues, “Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid). But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.“

Yeah, kinda lame. It sounds a little closer to Hollow Man than The Invisible Man.

Bad enough that Hollywood is nothing but remakes but they can't tell a good story when spoon fed one.

That sounds really stupid and more like a ghost story that's been converted into an Invisible Man story. I also don't like the idea of the Invisible Man possibly being the figment of someone's imagination.

Yeah it doesn't exactly make me want to see it. James Whale's version will always be numero uno I reckon.

The Invisible Man has toxic masculinity. That is the theme here.

Yeah, kinda lame. It sounds a little closer to Hollow Man than The Invisible Man. Exactly. And Hallow Man sucked. I haven't seen it in years, pretty much since it came out, but yeah I remember thinking it was pretty good damn stupid. Good title though.

The 1940 Invisible Woman movie is pretty good.

That plot synopsis sounds really lame, but maybe we're dealing with a movie that's more than it's plot. Elisabeth Moss is a hot commodity right now, so I doubt she'd sign on to do something subpar, and Leigh Whannel is a really capable talent too, Insidious 3 was a major improvement over the second movie and Upgrade was really cool too. Maybe The Invisible Man will be a vehicle for an exercise in suspense filmmaking. Humor my optimism for a minute. If we looked at the plot of Mad Max: Fury Road on paper the movie doesn't sound all that interesting, it's the action filmmaking that makes the movie.

I didn't see the Kitchen, it didn't really interest me, but I can understand how any actress would be attracted to an all-female gangster movie directed by an Academy Award nominated writer. From the RT score and IMDb rating it just didn't turn out to be any good. Question remains what attracted her to want to do this movie.

So the plot is that Elizabeth Moss is an abused wife being gaslighted by her Invisible husband? Incels gonna be mad, but I can dig it. 😎

It will be fun to watch all the usual suspects get bitch and complain about it.

Doesn't look entirely bad, perhaps could be good. I appreciate how few of the effects they gave away even if they certainly gave away too many plot developments... as always... But it doesn't remind one of The Invisible Man either. Are they really trying to launch their 'Dark Universe' on this? Or maybe just making individual films now? The latter would probably be better, but I thought the were dead set on their connected bullshit... also dead set on placing them in current day for whatever reason. I've said it before and I'll say it again just to be annoying, but as much as I don't love the remake of The Wolfman that was the better approach for these films.

I was getting that they’re just gonna be separate movies. I read originally this was still gonna use the Dark Universe Invisible Man script. Wonder if that’s still true. Also I guess if they wanted to update The Invisible Man that this is how it would be done?
