What songs/tunes do you think subvert the nature of a horror/thriller. I came up with this: But I think masterofallgoons forwarded a better example:

Does this count even though it comes on first, then the Madness happens afterwards?

Does this count even though it comes on first, then the Madness happens afterwards? Definitely, more on point than my American Psycho example. Here's another, even tho the film is terribly IMHO:

Your user image has just reminded me of this James: That was a pretty weird song for this movie, not gonna lie.

The song Blue Velvet in the movie Blue Velvet.
I also thought the Prince songs in Batman were employed in a Clockwork Orangey sort of way.

I know this doesn't technically count since the song and the carnage take place in different parts, but I think it's still fitting.

I saw Ready or Not over the weekend and there's an old timey 'Hide and Seek' song played on an antique record player that is used early before the mayhem starts and then once again when it's winding down. I'd never heard it before and I assumed it was composed for the film.

1408 uses the song We've Only Just Begun by the Carpenters repeatedly via a clock radio in the titular hotel room.

Saw an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? recently where a ghost car drove up playing the song In the Still of the Night.

Scratchy record big band music in the closing credits of The Evil Dead. The original or the remake? I can't remember either closing credit tunes.

The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) used Air Supply's "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" and now and forever henceforth I will associate it with murder.
