My spoiler free opinions:
The curse continues. Many people (including me) feel that with both the book and the miniseries, the part with the kids was stronger than the part with the adults. While I liked the movie, it was definitely weaker than the first. It was too long, dragging in places.
My only real complaint from the first movie, i.e. bad CGI, hasn't really been fixed. With a few notable exceptions, the CGI looks second-rate.
I'll put two more negative points that could be considered spoilers at the end of the post
Pluses: Great cast all around. I thought the use of flashbacks with the kids was great (and I didn't reallt notice the de-aging). The climax of the film is great. Also, there were some cool little cameos.
A couple more negative points...
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Beverly's abusive husband and Bill's wife are only in one scene apiece, and neither follows their spouse to Derry. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Also, there's a very cool shot from the trailer that I didn't see in the movie. (Maybe I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong.) It's the shot where Pennywise hops on the wall, but he's standing at a 90 degree angle to one of the losers looking up at him. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Liked it. It's like goonies except with swearing and more gore, not something you get to see every day. It had heart too, maybe not tons of it, but it still had it. I enjoyed the whole friends reconvening aspect of it, the chinese restaurant dinner which admittedly felt ever so slightly forced, but still funny enough. and the way it devolved into a monster fest was unpredicted and compelling. It's fun to see a Stephen King movie on a bigger budget and with less pretension. Cinematography had some nice ideas in the beginning. I probably won't hold my breath for another one like it, i'm not sure, but I enjoyed this one.

Anything past 90 minutes has the chance of killing the horror.
The story was good, but it really wasn't very scary.
I will probably give it an 8 which is a B
9-10=A 7-8=B 5-6=C 3-4=D

I like it, but once again they failed at making the adult side of the story as interesting as the kid story.

Way to overlong. Still its revs up the gore much more than the first one, thats a positive but also have some atrocious CGI that looks like it was cut from the first Lord of the rings trilogy.
5/10.

I'm in the minority in that I wasn't that impressed. I had been so looking forward to this movie to come out slightly disappointed. I agree with another poster that the characters were too melodramatic and over-the-top. Dialogue half-assed and rushed. The really only redeeming value was the last 10 minutes and the characters really resembled their younger selves.

Lets face it, coming out after Midsommar, it was always gonna disappoint. Midsommar has set the bar so high nothing is gonna match it or surpass it anytime soon.

Because I'm seeing a lot of people saying it was ok at best. Completely agreed on the melodramatic and over-the-top acting.

And the reviews I'm reading on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB half are great and half are bad.

What does this mean? there there is visually too much tongue play and too much clown seen. By tongue play I mean scenes showing tongue used for scary purposes not sexual. Just clown sticking its tongue out or other creatures doing the same. It’s creepy and scary few times but then it gets just repetitive.

Too much clown?! There wasn't enough! This movie was lacking Pennywise.

load of rubbish. It takes a whole scene from John Carpenters The Thing and reproduce it shot for shot. Creative bankrumptcy

Wasn’t as good as Chapter 1, but I still very much enjoyed it. It was better than the miniseries Part 2, and the cast all did an amazing job.

Thought it was a major disappointment. The director seemed to take a campy approach to the material and resorted to too many cheap jump scares, aside from a couple of really freaky scenes. The bad CGI made it look very cartoonish, especially the Paul Bunyan sequence. It got to the point where it grew tiresome. Mediocre at best.
The 1990 miniseries is looking very good by comparison.

I liked that the actor who played 1950's Ben had a nice little cameo, but my opinion of Chapter 2 is like some of the others. Better than the part two of the miniseries, but not better than Chapter 1.

Not as good as Chapter One but I still liked it. The first act was pretty solid. Was nice to see how the Losers are doing 27 years later. The second act was alright, it was where it began to drag, but the third act sucked. It would've been more terrifying if we saw It turn into an arachnid instead of something like King Candy from Wreck-it Ralph. Hader, McAvoy, and Skasgard were the highlights of the cast, though the rest were still perfect casting. Some really scary scenes here and there, like the dog scene. 8/10
