and won't be nominated for diversity points It sounds like a great film, and I agree that the type of people who must look for reasons to confirm their biases against a work probably won't make the "diversity point" argument on this film.

For the benefit of those who claim that minority or women led movies can only win because of societal pressure ("diversity points"), I say that the only way "Joker" can get any major awards is because of the huge numbers of noisy fans of comic book / superhero movies and the need for the Hollywood establishment to attract them.
How do you like it when it is aimed at movies YOU want to see?

I would imagine the general public will probably treat it like the 2nd coming of Heath Ledger just because of Phoenix's performance.
still, I personally think it's got a good chance at a movie ill want to re-watch from time-to-time which only a small amount of super hero movies managed to pull off. but what you can tell is good about this one is it's more of a character study instead of the typical super hero movie which is mostly about action.
