Yes. For the longest Anakin has been the Chosen One. But in a recent episode of SW: Rebels entitled "Twin Suns", Luke Skywalker is clearly labeled as "the Chosen One"! (It doesn't address whether Anakin is still a "Chosen One" making 2 Chosen Ones or the mantle was passed to Luke... very vague, no clarification. But conversations clearly identify Luke Skywalker as "the Chosen One"). And now considering Rey's nature with the Force in TFA, a scapegoat way of explaining it away would be to label her as a "Chosen One"... I don't know if that's the direction they're going with her, but TFA already opened the door for that theory and possibility. That is very disappointing to hear...er...read. I've only watched the first few episodes of that series and stopped watching it. Now I'm glad I did due the inconsistencies/contradictions with the actual Star Wars movies. i.e. I heard Darth Maul was still alive in it. To be fair, Maul was revealed to be alive in the Clone Wars series first. Rebels, in that specific instance, is actually keeping to "current canon continuity."

I don't really care which animated series started it (said without venom). Either way, it still goes against what was established in Episode 1 and that's why I don't like it.

I've only watched the first few episodes of that series and stopped watching it. Now I'm glad I did due the inconsistencies/contradictions with the actual Star Wars movies. i.e. I heard Darth Maul was still alive in it. Yes, he is. But he was actually "resurrected" in CWAS (Clone Wars animated series). The backstory explanation for how he survived his death in TPM was rushed and came off as absurd IMO. I never liked how they brought him back. But ironically some of the best written episodes toward the end of CWAS and throughout SW: Rebels involve his character as part of it. Some really great SW storytelling that fits well into the established canon have included him but it's tough to get past that it seems rather far fetched he should be there in the first place. So things like that do pop up in the animated series occasionally and really stretch conformity to established canon for some viewers. The revelation of Luke being the/a Chosen One is another example. During the episode Darth Maul asks ObiWan Kenobi is he (referring to Luke) the Chosen One? And ObiWan confirms that he is. And the animated series are officially canon...
