Really? That's news to me. You should really stop doing that. That just keeps resulting in you making a fool of yourself.... Evidently you're one of us "prequel fans" now. Welcome aboard. You can (continue to) discuss your love of... Episode II, the one you say all the time is the only one you enjoyed.

Still doesn't change the fact that ingrained, subconscious chauvinism is the real reason anyone dislikes Rey. That holds very little weight when 8 out of 10 people who dislike Rey actually hold me pointblank the problem WAS that she's a girl back on the original IMDb. Yes, really. I read SO many comments on The Force Awakens and Rogue One boards about how Hollywood needs to stop shoving female leads down our throats because they're not believable action heroes. You should have seen the sexism in action.

Do you think the character was (a) well written and (b) consistently written in the context of the previous six movies, regardless of your disdain for the content/plotting of the prequels?

I didn't give a shit there was a female cast as one of the leads. What I gave a shit about was the fact that the leads we got were terrible, and undeveloped. Jar Jar was written better. He had a shitty arc, but at least it was an arc. He was also consistent within the confines of his character development. At least i can laugh at Jar Jar and baby Anakin. I can only cringe when Finn or Rey say or do anything.

(a) Yes, and if she is badly written, so is every other Star Wars character. (b) Yes.

I just mean exactly what I wrote: those two points, at least for me, are the major problems with the character. (I'd other, somewhat separate issues with Ridley as well, but none of that is really germane to this discussion.)

I think Rey was well-written, for what she's supposed to be. Is she consistent? No. I think that's the point. Her character is an anomaly. Whether or not you can buy this new development within the universe will pretty much decide whether or not you can enjoy the new films. I get why some people don't like it, but I'm on board so far.

No, you get lost! How do you like that, eh?!!! Still doesn't change the fact that ingrained, subconscious chauvinism is the real reason anyone dislikes Rey. Still doesn't change the fact that only an idiot would believe this as if this character is above critical thought just because she is female. It has nothing to do with chauvinism. As I already pointed out Rey is not the only female character who doesn't need a man's help. And some fans of those said characters still have critical issues with Rey. I know women who think Rey is a more poorly written character than Luke. I know women who find Rey to be a MarySue character. Even some female movie critics hold those opinions. You are a self righteous idiot who thinks his opinion is law and indisputable. Certifiable!
