pro.boxoffice.com/long-range-forecast-the-mummy/Sure the 143M total domestic number looks "meh" but two things to keep in mind. 1. Cruise outside M:I is does best in foreign markets, especially Asian countries. 2. I think if it gets Edge of Tomorrow or Rogue Nation reviews (which sure is asking a lot but you never know) it could have much better legs. I for one am stoked for this movie. Hoping that it will kick off a new franchise.

Also its worth noting that other than Cruise I doubt anyone got big paychecks, I'm thinking 150M budget tops.

So what's the budget? I hear conflicting info ranging from $60M to as high as $225M which is obscene. Granted, the 3rd one cost $175M...somehow.

Good question, I'd say the budget is around 150-200M, more likely 150M as that is around the cost of the last two Mission: Impossible films.

makes sense given the effects and Tom Cruise. Isn't it widely known that Tom Cruise is a special effect himself? I have it on good authority he hasn't been a real person since 1999 when he had himself frozen in anticipation of Y2K. Every appearance of Cruise since then has been a special effect. His couch spasm on Oprah was a malfunction caused when a computer technician operating the Cruise controls spilled a coke on the keyboard. His marriage to Katie Holmes was also fake and their daughter is actually a midget prostitute from Slovenia. If you watch his arrival at the War of the Worlds premiere in slow motion, it is Katie herself puppeteering Tom from the back of the remote controlled motorcycle. Katie is an avid doll collector. 2 + 2 = 4 as Sherlock Holmes might say. And yes, she IS a descendant of the famed sleuth but that is a story for a different time.

Tom Cruise is powered by David Miscavige's special sauce, lets be honest here.

Agreed, it's very likely between 130-150, i doubt Universal would be stupid to give it a 200+ budget, it's effects aren't much expensive and it only has Tom Cruise, no other big name is attached to it, but if Warner was retarded enough to give King Arthur a 100 million budget then i don't really know.

Should be interesting. I could see this flopping critical wise and at the BO but I could also see it go the other way

The Mummy cost 125 million, which is a good thing. And don't forget that Kong was tracking for 40 million, and opened with 61 million. I can see The Mummy opening with 55-60 million, people are hungry for adventure movies.

The trailers have been great, and I too am hoping it opens around $50-$60M.
