A couple of years ago to visit my sister who was having a baby. I’ve never been a hospital patient (not including my birth).

I had my tonsils out when I was a kid. Back then, it required a hospital stay (overnight, IIRC). I hear that nowadays the procedure is done without requiring a hospital stay.

When I was born. I saw my mother for the first time. It was dramatic enough.

Not in 16 years, before that in and out of A + E for various injures, cancer surgery at age 4 and ear operation until age 11. Poor baby boy. Happy you survived

About 5 and a half years ago for my mom, when she passed away. I hate to even think about it. But it's one of those memories you can never scrub from your mind. Sorry about you mom, Zolo

I was in the same hospital where my mom worked at the time and after being stuck in the emergency room for about six hours getting sicker and sicker, she went apeshit on the ER staff. It was almost worth being sick to see that 4’11” woman demanding they take care of her “baby” NOW. Mom Paul's Laugh: the inspiration for Terms of Endearment

It caused more pain to my bank balance, even with private health cover, the only covered a skimpy rebate.... I know the feeling. I've been without health insurance for 3 years now

I know the feeling. I've been without health insurance for 3 years now I got back about $65.00 for each of the 3 teeth that were removed, from a $350.00 fee per tooth fee. Plus had to pay the private health cover, private hospital gap of $250.00 which is a once of payment per annum if admitted within a calendar year. It hardly seemed worth it for the cover. Dental is considered cosmetic for the most part and not so much medical and in OZ we have a national health care system, so private cover is not always essential. The only thing that should be considered cosmetic when it comes to dental are veneers and the like One thing I do like about OZ is that you can get botox for free from a neurologist when you've had Bell's Palsy

There has been some contention recently regarding health cover here and making dental a part of regular medical procedure. People have been putting off their dental issues and compounding the problem.
It really should be part of regular medical procedure. If your oral health isn't well, it can affect your overall health
