Thick soups like lentil, bean-and-bacon, and split pea. We don't have very hot summers, so it isn't weather driven. It's just an association that I have with the time of year.

Hello Dolly's, I make them once a year because I'm not a baker but they are easy to make but high in calories. I use the Eagle Milk recipe and I use chopped almonds as my nut. I think they now call them Magic Cookie Bars but when I first learned how to make them they were called Hello Dolly's.

Shepherd's pie, or cottage pie, in heavy gravy with garlic, shallots, haricot verts and petits pois.

Chili, risotto, sweet potatoes are general autumn/winter staples in the old klaw household.
One big plus of the winter season is that it's pomegranate season! I'll pick 5-6 every Sunday.

I think a bowl of chili on a cool fall day sounds good.

like NJtoTX, it is still a little hot for me to make these, but maybe in a month. We're skipping the 80s here altogether, almost. Highs this week: 98, 74 (yay!), 82, 91, 91, 72, 71.

I am in the farming area of California and our temps are bouncing around like yours...But not 90's in the forecast. I am so happy for that!
