We need to bring the dead back to life on this board. Have no fear! Pop is here!
If I can crucified a message board... I can resurrect another one!

We need to bring the dead back to life on this board. WHY? Well Maya, as you can tell I have been gone several months as I found the RFS board too toxic a place to spend time. Others such as Allaby and AJ June have joined me. Others were banned because they were problem causers. Do you agree?

'Hey! Let's ban all the offensive users that hurt other people's feelings!'
'Wait...where did everybody go?'
'Come back and spend time on a board with no drama and no colorful personalities!!'

The biggest issue with IMDb is its too fragmented.
There’s no reason to have so many different boards in the first place.
Consolidation is a good thing.

Movie chat ain’t the old board. True. But it's less dead than Movie Chat - another offshoot of original IMDB board.

True. But it's less dead than Movie Chat - another offshoot of original IMDB board. I stated out on IMDb with the religion board in 2005. It was a lively place. I 'lurked' the old board until it came over here, then started to participate. I had hopes that an open forum about religion between people of different viewpoints might make the world a less divisive place, that if we understood how more alike we are than different, that we could co-exist on this planet. Sadly, that hasn't happened. I no longer see religion as the cause of the divisiveness, but more of a symptom, of that deeply hard-wired imperative to survive, and struggle is part of that survival. Us vs. 'the other'. We can discuss all day long the rightness or wrongness of the interpretation on one simple verse from any holy book you choose, and still end up tossing ad hominems at those who don't agree. I think the Politics Board has become the center of controversy now, given the current US "Administration" and the effect that is having on world relations of all kinds. Also, since this said "administration" is trying to blur the lines between church and state, and make this into a Christian Nation, and marginalize people of color... well, this is a monumental battle that has more to do with power and control than creating a peaceful environment. So, what I say or don't say on this forum doesn't make much difference. I admire the posters who do still try to call attention to the world's ills, and continue to discuss logical and reasonable options, but I am tired. Because of a new job, my discretionary time is limited. I would rather spend time with my spotted pups and bottle-baby kittens, and watch hummingbirds at my feeder. I still read posts on here - not as frequently - but find fewer posts that I care to comment on. I do post from time to time, and will still, but my discouragement level is fairly high right now.

Do you remember starting this thread? imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/130465/again-religion-destroys-nature-artReligion is divisive tribalism, eh? IMO, this doesn't match very well with what you just said about coexisting.

This place is Deadsville. It never recovered from the transition. The original board on IMDb jumped. Not this one. Check out the avatar above your post. He's trying to liven things up

IMO, this doesn't match very well with what you just said about coexisting. Wow, you had to dig back almost a full year to find that particular thread, didn't you? A lot of work just to throw another insult. Which, by the way, is incorrect - my previous statement that religion is divisive tribalism in no way conflicts with my post above, the pertinent part has been bolded. Religion is still a part of divisive tribalism, and is a symptom of it. I have better things to do than quibble with the likes of you. Go troll somebody else. And work on your reading comprehension. No wonder this board is dead.
