Light...Darkness...A balance...Thank you, captain obvious. It seems like they are going to make Luke an antagonist. I'm note sure how I feel about that

He's going to be captain fricking bring-down until Rey brings him around to the force again. I'll be thrilled to be wrong, but it seems like a very predictable plot just from the teaser Edited to add: You just know he wants to be rid of the Jedis in part because Rey has the force and is also his daughter. "Rey, I am your father." I can hear it already.

It seemed like he was saying that the Jedi need to end if the Sith are going to do the same. It makes sense because if you really think about it, Luke's journey with the Force took his aunt and uncle, Obi-Wan, his father, and now Han. He's seen the galaxy at its worst, so he has a unique outlook on the Jedi and their future.

Looks predictable. - What is Luke so on about? Anakin already brought balance to the force. Stop fucking with it and leave it alone. - I cant get into the Rey story. I dont really care about her and that turncoat stormtrooper. Kylo Ren is an interesting character, though. Something is holding him back from reaching his potential as a Sith Lord. Or, it could be that hes hit his potential & simply isnt destined to be darkside force user. I dont know. He'll probably end up 'grey'. He may not be full of rage and hate but his eyes dont even glow yellow when he does channel the darkside which, I thought, was a specific and common physical manifestation of Sith energy? Killing his father, dueling with Rey - nothing. - "Rogue One" was the first Stars Movie that Ive enjoyed since A New Hope.

Looks meh. The first SW trailer I haven't gotten a 'spine tingle' from since EpIII.
As for the 'Luke-villain' angle -- this scenario was mooted back when EpVII dropped. It was predicated on the fact that he's Vader's son (i.e., the apple not falling far from its tree), that Vader's 'essence' is still present in the franchise, and that a Mary Sue non Jedi "Jedi", finishing this line of warriors, would be 'SJW fitting'. Moreover, the angsty Kyo Ren is hardly a fitting antagonist for the series going forward and, indeed, seems to have given off an air of a character who may flip-flop alliances -- leaving the door open to a real bad guy.
(NB: There was also a theory that had the Mary Sue turning dark -- something about why she was sequestered to that Tatooine-alike planet in the first place (too dangerous to train) and her overt, Anikin-like impetuousness -- because she had seemingly channelled her Dark Side in beating down Ren.)

Does anyone know where a fan could find a transcript of the whispery-dialogue you can hear as like a sublayer of the audio? I know there's Leia's line about, "Help me Obi-wan Kenobi you are my only hope", but that's the only one I could make out. I have a bit of a hearing problem, and no amount of earphones, headphones, subtitles from YouTube, or trying to listen to different versions (even ones where people have those 'things you may have missed' videos) has been able to catch them all for me. Sometimes it sucks being hearing impaired.

Of course, I wasn't as excited about it as a was for the trailer for TFA, but I didn't think it was bad. It looks fun and it's nice to have Star Wars be fun again, but the trailer is certainly nothing special.

they do the fake space thing in this teaser and in the force awakens trailer. you think you see stars but it's really the rocks rey is on and in the tfa trailer you think you see stars but it's rey opening some doorway.

It seemed like he was saying that the Jedi need to end if the Sith are going to do the same. The Sith already ended. This makes no sense. My mistake. I meant that the light and dark sides were what he was weary of and he wants to abandon the Jedi and their link to the old war with the Sith. That was what I was getting at.

What makes you say that? Is it just the last line? Maybe antagonist isn't the right word. He just seems like he's going to be a drag. We'll see. I want to be wrong and have it be great. I'll have no problem revisiting this thread in December and saying I'm wrong if I am.

He was tasked with rebuilding something that was decimated decades ago and not only did he fail, but one of the reasons it didn't pan out was because of his own nephew. How would you expect him to act other than to be a drag?

I'm just keeping my fi gers crossed its going to be awesome.
