Man this was as bad as I heard. The legend is rather scary. How did they screw this film up so much? Youtube videos on Slenderman are far scarier.

Normally I would say to decide for yourself but its so crappy that its not worth watching for curiosity sake.

There were a few moments here or there where you could see that there may have been a good idea buried in this amateurish and shoddily made crap fest.
It was hit with controversy when it came out due to that real life case with the two girls attempting to murder their friend. That was probably the only publicity that it would have helped it, since outside of that there's really no reason to watch this.
There was a movie I saw last year that was similar, in a way, to this kind of story. It was about a woman coming home from a long sentence in a mental institution after being involved with a murder or assault or something when she was a girl that based around a ghostly slender-man-like figure.
I think it was on Netflix, but now I'm not really sure. It wasn't great, but it was a much better approach to this sort of material.

You could say the attempted murder controversy surrounding the film also played a part in how the final product turned out. The studio left a lot on the editing room floor, and it shows. Convoluted and watered-down. I remember the first trailer had numerous scenes that didn’t make the final cut, including a couple visible death scenes. If they ever release the full complete cut I would be curious, but I doubt the studio will let that happen.

Yeah, maybe there was more to it, but I don't have much confidence that it would have been any good anyway.

By the way... The title of the Netflix movie that was Slender Man story-ish was Mercy Black. Also not particularly good by any stretch, but a much more respectable approach with some attempt at having a story.

I kind of liked "Always watching: a Marble Hornet's story". Based around the Operator. A similar character. Not amazing by any means. But not too bad.

I haven't seen Slender Man yet, but yeah I haven't heard too many good things about it. Still, I'm hoping to watch it as a first-time viewing for the October Challenge.

Well I finally saw Slender Man today, and it is indeed as bad as everyone has been saying. It's just too tame to really score as an effective horror movie, and it resorted to much of the usual tired horror cliches. Some shoddy CGI and overacting didn't help matters either.
