Arrow Favorite Willa Holland to Return and Recur During Final SeasonThe character that Arrow fans most hoped would put in an appearance during the final season — Oliver’s sister, played by former series regular Willa Holland — will indeed be seen again, TVLine has learned. But wait, there’s more: Holland is confirmed to not just guest-star but recur during the CW series’ 10-episode farewell run. “We are thrilled to have Willa back in our final season,” says showrunner Beth Schwartz. An original cast member, Holland began dialing back her Arrow appearance in Season 5 (to 14 of 23 episodes), before parting ways with the series in the 16th episode of Season 6. As that exit storyline went, Thea, with longtime love Roy Harper in tow, left Star City to trot the globe and shut down some recently unearthed Lazarus Pits. Midway through Season 7, Roy (played by Colton Haynes) returned to present-day Star City sans Thea, due to a falling out they had had stemming from her decision to bring him back from the dead (and thus leave him with that pesky bloodlust) by utilizing a Lazarus Pit. In flash forwards to 2040, meanwhile, Roy is still alone, and bitter, without his love. Holland last appeared on Arrow in the 12th episode of Season 7, as a talking head within a documentary that was being filmed about Oliver Queen’s rise from wealthy playboy to city-saving vigilante. Arrow‘s eighth and final season premieres Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9/8c.

That's good news. I have said a few times on here on other threads I was hoping they brought Thea back for the final season 'cause she was a big part of the show and Oliver's life and it wouldn't have made sense not to have her come back for at least one or two episodes. I am curious as to why she is hardly mentioned in the future flashes, why Roy and her separated and why Nyssa was only seen once helping train Mia when she was younger 'cause the three of them left together but we have heard very little about what they did while they were away for all those years. With all these returning characters let's hope Walter comes back too since they seem to have forgotten they said he was like a Father to them.

I think the idea would be don't mention a character too often that we cannot show as it just builds up peoples hope of them popping back up, which as we know is true given how many speculation videos get made for almost every comic property after the most vague allusion to other characters.
Glad Willa agreed to come back, that's often the thing people ignore is the shows could want the actors back for episodes but the actors themselves are just like no fuck it, Rosenbaum for instance I heard refused multiple offers to come back on Smallville after he left and wasn't easy to get back even for the series finale, sometimes it's just scheduling other times actors left on bad terms or they just got sick of the show/think they are too big for it now, but again glad Willa is back even just briefly for the finale season, it would feel wrong to not see her one last time at the very least.

Colton Haynes is returning to Arrow for the final seasonWe have not seen the last of our parkour king Roy Harper. EW has exclusively learned that Colton Haynes is indeed returning to Arrow and will recur in the final season. The news arrives two months after the star’s demotion from series regular status sparked some fear that he might not appear in the CW superhero drama’s farewell song. Thankfully, those worries were all for naught. “We couldn’t have ended the show without having him back,” showrunner Beth Schwartz tells EW. And she’s right. Could you imagine Arrow signing off without seeing Arsenal flip around Star City in his patented red hood one final time? Honestly, that’s inconceivable — especially when season 8 is all about playing the show’s “greatest hits,” as star Stephen Amell, Schwartz, and EP Marc Guggenheim have said multiple times in the lead-up to the premiere. Hopefully, Haynes’ return means the show will resolve some of the mysteries surrounding the wayward archer: Did he ever try patching things up with Thea (Willa Holland, who is recurring in the final season) after their falling out? More importantly, why did he exile himself to Lian Yu in the years after he helped Team Arrow save the city from the Ninth Circle? Of course, Haynes and Holland aren’t the only familiar faces returning for the final season. Arrow is also welcoming back Colin Donnell, Josh Segarra, Susanna Thomspon, Rila Fukushima, John Barrowman, and Byron Mann. Arrow premieres Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Arrowverse Producer Teases Possibility of Nic Cage Superman in Crisis"Crisis on Infinite Earths" already has three Supermen set to appear in the massive crossover. However, it sounds like it's possible we could be getting a fourth. Responding to a question on Twitter asking if he had reached out to Nicolas Cage to play the Man of Steel, Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim mysteriously teased "What makes you think we didn't reach out..." In 1996, Cage was signed on to portray Superman in Tim Burton's reboot of the character. Titled Superman Lives and planning to adapt The Death of Superman, the project was canceled three weeks before production began. However, the film lived on in The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened?, a documentary chronicling the behind-the-scenes events surrounding the canceled film. Were Cage to join "Crisis" as Superman, he would be the fourth version of the character confirmed for the crossover. Tom Welling and Erica Durance will reprise their Smallville roles, while Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will also appear as Superman and Lois Lane, reprising their roles from last year's Arrowverse crossover. Brandon Routh is also set to appear as Kingdom Come Superman. "Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Supergirl, then continues in Batwoman on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in The Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. After the winter hiatus, the crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

That seems like a nothing article, trying to make something more out of a tongue-in-cheek response than there probably actually is. It seems doubtful they would have tried to get Nicholas-fucking-Case to appear in a cameo for a CW event; especially since he never truly played Superman. Now, if they had hinted at being in contact with Dean Cain, that would seem more credible.

Yeah. I suppose that makes sense but I am still kinda confused over why the actress left the show in the first place and if it was really her decision or the writers decided to write her off 'cause it doesn't look like she has appeared in much of anything since she left 'Arrow' and the only role she has had has been playing a voice actor in the 'Kingdom Hearts' video games and I thought she left 'cause she got a role in another show but looking back at the way they handled her character it didn't really feel like they knew what to do with her after Season 4 and it didn't really make much sense to me not to keep her as Speedy when they had killed Laurel off and Roy left the show and it would have made more sense to have had her stay with Oliver and train the new recruits. Either way I am glad she is coming back too 'cause I think they need to wrap her story up since we don't know what happened to her after Roy and her went their separate ways and it would make sense for Thea to come back and help her brother one last time before he dies.
With Michael Rosenbaum I remember him saying in some of his more recent interviews he was willing to come back for a 'Smallville' reunion or an animated season of 'Smallville' to play Lex again so I am kinda surprised he didn't agree to this but them not letting him see the script or telling him what role he was going to play would turn some actors off signing up to it. That being said why don't they get John Glover back instead? He was in 'Shazam' not long ago and it would be fun to see him in the 'Arrowverse' as some version of a Luthor or possibly another character.

I don't think Nicholas Cage will appear in the crossover event and Dean Cain makes the most sense in my opinion since he has already played Kara and Alex's Father in 'Supergirl' and we know he wants to play Superman again but it would be fun if Nicholas Cage did turn up 'cause it would be very unexpected and he is a big comic book fan.

I think Willa may have just gotten a bit tired of stuff after a while, she's been relatively active since she was 14 so she may have just been like screw it I want a break, she could also have been working on other projects that didn't come to fruition, I think most actors have that, like 50% of the things they work on don't get far enough along for the public to know about but it still takes months of their time, as for her on arrow iirc Willa asked for a reduced role for S5 & 6, going from 20+ episodes to 16 a year, which was her choice, which I think is why they stopped using her as Speedy as it's more work, they are more intricate night shoots with choreographed scenes, as I recall the producers and everyone loved Willa and wanted to make it work with her as best they could so they reduced her workload whilst keeping her as prominent as they could, but like I said I think she just got tired of the grind, she's from LA so she may have got tired of spending 6+ months a year in Vancouver, a lot of actors give up roles for a number of reasons that most people would be like wtf you gave up how much and for what?
One thing also for all we know Willa could have done shitloads of voice acting in the last year and those things just haven't been announced, Katee Sackoff I think recorded her appearances on SW Rebels like 12-18 months before those episodes aired.
The Rosenbaum thing I think sounds mostly a respect thing, like they didn't come to him with the right respect he felt he should have got and just was like no, because honestly it's a months work or less for between 1-5 episodes of TV, not like that's expected to be a 6 figure offer, if he came back who he would be playing is kind of obvious given the scenario, so it honestly just feels like he felt disrespected which is sad because he is still my fav Lex and I love seeing him on TV, this would have been a great chance to see him back again but, oh well maybe next time, 10 years from now

Man, I could have sworn when Willa's original departure as a series regular was announced, that I had read that she had been making regular appearances on some other series; and that part of the motivation to both reduce her commitment to Arrow and to eventually leave was some level of desire to be more involved with that show - but I don't see anything that fits that on IMDB..... I think with Michael, the whole thing was a catch-22; the writers couldn't very well write something specifically for Michael, without knowing if he'd be involved, but not knowing the scope of what that involvement would be would make it difficult to say yes. And as I've mentioned before, I have a suspicion that many of these cameos are going to the most fan-servicey things possible, where like, you're going to see Tom Welling and Erica Durance stand in front of the Kent farmhouse and see the red, destructive anti-matter wave coming over the horizon, and Tom's Clark will take two steps, about to open his shirt, but before he can fly off as Superman the anti-matter wave over takes them and it's goodbye Smallville. I mean, it may be more to it than that, but considering how they used the 90s Flash last year, I'm not holding my breath for much more than that. I wouldn't be surprised if the extent of Rossenbaum's appearance as Lex would be him looking out the window, sipping scotch while the world endeded. Still, if I were him, I might have at least asked for a meeting to find out exactly what the possibilities were; and if it were something appreciable, consider it; and if it was just to pop up for five minutes of screen time, it probably wouldn't be worth the effort. He might be at a point where he feels like, he's put his time in as the character; and anything short of massively vital role to the plot probably wouldn't be anything more than a blip on the radar. I had seen some fan art that made an interesting suggestion of him appearing as an alternate Flash, which could have been fun. He could be part of Kevin Conroy's earth's Justice League. But there again, how much time are they going to dedicate to anyone who isn't a series regular on the Arrowverse shows in this crossover?
