I watched John Carpenter's The Fog last night and it was so good. It's impressive the film was produced for $1.1 million because it looks very much like as a polished Hollywood production. I’m watching Se7en right now. I’ve always seen it as horror, but not many other people do. I wonder what the general consensus about the classification is here. I consider it more neo-noir mystery/crime thriller. I suppose it could qualify as horror since heinous crimes and a loose serial killer occur in numerous horror films.

I just watched 'Haunted' (1977).
It is listed on IMDB as horror.
I struggle to consider it so, so haven't counted it for my October Challenge.
In fact, everything about it is so awful from start to finish, I'm amazed I managed to sit through the whole 82 minutes.
If you're trawling YouTube for horror films to watch, give Haunted (1977) a wide berth... I've given up 82 minutes of my life watching this dross so that you don't have to.
You have been warned!
If you've already had the misfortune to see this, try and convince me to add it to my October Challenge tally?

I was wondering the same. Imdb doesn’t have the horror tag on this, but rotten tomatoes does.

Not about it being shite, but it's classed as horror AOTS (on IMDB, Wikipedia, horror film sites and blogs, etc), so I'm claiming it as watched ✔️

Watched The Bride (1985) for the first time. Too bad the acting and script didn't live up to the costumes and sets. Sting and Beales were terrible. Only saving grace were Geraldine Fitzgerald and Quentin Crisp in minor roles. What a waste!!
Another rewatch of Stir of Echoes (1999). Love the low-key feeling of this film with very subtle scares. It doesn't rely on jump scares. The kid was terrific, and of course, Bacon and Erbe did a wonderful job, as did Illeana Douglas. I can watch this over and over, and still get the chills!! Well done!

I read up on it, and it seems this film suffered from an abundance of issues, notably the $250,000 budget that necessitated leaving a lot of the story relegated to background and alluding. Take into account a visibly drunk Aldo Ray and a scene-chewing Virginia Mayo (she only had her looks, and by this time, they had faded), along with a shoe-string budget, and you have a real disaster! Looks like one I'll miss and not be upset.

Also has anyone seen The Apostle which I'm also put off by the run time? Really liked Mother. The buildup was worth the runtime. I'd watch it again. Apostle's story really wasn't well told despite the runtime. Was ok overall but not good enough for me to say I'd watch it again.

Saw a real dandy one on YouTube called Pet Graveyard. But don't be fooled; inspite of the title and poster, it has nothing to do reanimating the dead in an Indian burial ground. This one deals with grief-stricken people who perform a ritual that sends them to the afterlife so they can briefly visit with the spirits of dead loved ones, and then be able to come back to the living world. Except that the Grim Reaper has other plans for them. This British horror movie is effectively made. The story is intriguing, inspite of some loopholes.

I just watched The Amityville Horror (1979) for the first time. The general premise of a newlywed couple entering into a haunted house held promise, but not much happens or even matters outside of the occasional scares in terms of the narrative. Father Delaney and the investigator subplots are particularly pointless. Nevertheless, the score was pretty effectively well done although its use of shrieking strings makes it sounds like the theme from Psycho.
