I wonder why George Lucas decided to be a part of the whole event. Does anyone know? He seemed over it and not listening/paying attention - going as far as to ask "What?" several times when the likes of Harrison Ford said something to him. He seemed far away with his thoughts. He seemed defeated. Poor guy.

Great stuff! Thanks! I kind of see what you're saying about George Lucas. I think when he sold to Disney and handed the reigns over to Kathleen Kennedy, he envisioned it in a Jedi metaphor. The master passing the torch to the apprentice. But the reality is it's became more like he was the idolized master of the house. And now that he sold it's like the "kids" took over and do everything their way. He's like grandpa now. And KK rolls him out (or coaxes him out) during events like this to "tell the subjects of the kingdom about the good old days!" And I think Lucas sees right through it and he's just not that invested in playing that role but he still does it because he respects the fans.

I wish he was happy with how things turned out. At the end of the day, he can only blame himself for selling to a huge corporation and expecting them to honor his new story ideas. However, it's still a harsh conclusion to his involvement with Star Wars.

It's Mark Hamill's personal tribute to Carrie Fisher that he did. He actually told a few little anecdotal stories I had never heard before so that was nice.

I was thinking about it...it seems likes George is starting to have some health concerns. He zones out and doesn't seem to remember how things happened. I hope he's ok. Here is an example:

I don't see that. He seemed to be having fun being there. Hey may have some health issues or just be getting older, but I don't get the sense that he was "defeated" or anything like that.
