Sometimes you'll hear people say that the internet is forever. That whatever you put online will be there forever. That's not true. It's a scare tactic. If nobody knows or cares who you are, your old deleted MySpace profile is gone and it's not ever coming back. Just thought you all should know that.

The Internet is NOT "forever"...
"That whatever you put online will be there forever"
False!
Proof:
IMDB shutdown their message boards back in early 2017... Numerous other websites have come and gone in the last 20 years...
And it will only take one major disaster to wipe out more:
Major meteor collision... Massive Solar Storm... Nuclear War & EMPs... Cyber Attack...
Yeah, laugh it up, retards...
While those kinds of things may not likely happen anytime soon, YOU KNOW FOR A FACT, that it's not impossible!
So, Show some intelligence, and don't completely rely on "The Cloud"...

MCDemuth pretty much summed it up because while it might be online for years or possibly decades, forever is a major stretch, especially for the average person as I would imagine famous people are more likely to have lasting info online as the decades pass (possibly centuries etc) than a random person.

When I type my name into Google, the third image that pops up is a shirtless Myspace pic from when I was chubby 16 year old.
Not sure what you're getting at, but don't think it stands up to scrutiny.

Did you delete that profile? My deleted profile is long gone and so are all the pictures from Google Images. So gone that I've tried various ways to recover them and it appears to be completely impossible.

You're talking about a period of time of about 13 years. That is hardly "forever". Try again in 10 000 years and let me know how you got on...

What's on your old MySpace profile? Nothing scandalous. Just old pictures with friends and pics from college. I deleted my myspace probably 10 years ago though, so there is no hope of getting any of that back, sadly.

I can just see a couple of Sumerian youths saying "These cuneiform mud tablets will never last forever!" 4000 years later...

And as I have posted elsewhere here, the search engines get worse and worse. So there may be stuff still out there somewhere, but it becomes harder and harder, perhaps impossible in practical terms, to find it.

They may not be on IMDb anymore, but they're still on the internet.
