In 1940, the family of 11-year-old Chloe Davis is found murdered. Her 10- and 7-year-old sisters, as well as her 3-year-old brother, were all bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Her mother was beat with a hammer, set on fire, and her wrists were slit. Chloe claimed that her mother killed the two girls, then set the herself on fire before begging Chloe to finish her off with the hammer. Chloe also claimed that her brother had been injured with the hammer by the mother, and that she (Chloe) finished him off to put him out of his misery (on her mother's orders). Police in the case didn't believe the girl, and the coldness with which she told her story didn't help. Among other strange behavior, she requested a beer while being questioned by police, and she would later show people through the blood-spattered crime scene, recounting what happened with no emotion. From what I can tell, it seems she was never charged with a crime. criminalconduct.blogspot.com/2007/03/mother-may-i-murder-you-case-of-chloe.html?m=1
