Two billion dollar earners for DC in less than 12 months. Nice.

Two billion dollar earners for DC in less than 12 months. Nice. I hope Wonder Woman 2 and Shazam 2 will be even bigger breakdown hits.

I hope Wonder Woman 2 and Shazam 2 will be even bigger breakdown hits. Hopefully Wonder Woman 2 does well, I don't know if it'll have the same kind of success as the first but it should still do well. I don't think they'll bother making a Shazam 2 though.

Which makes WB hedging their bets on the project even more insane and now have to share those profits.

Which makes WB hedging their bets on the project even more insane and now have to share those profits. Just to put it out there, the WB did the same thing with the Dark Knight Trilogy (Legendary Pictures helped co-finance the films and nobody is complaining about that). This is a common business practice for the studio. Since producing major motion pictures are a risky proposition, studios like WB Pictures usually practice risk sharing through co-financing with other investors/partners.
In the case of "Joker" 40-50% of the ($60 million) production costs were shared by BRON Creative and Village Roadshow Pictures while the other 50-60% was burdened by the WB (See the WSJ Article that supports this). You would expect that their share of the revenue, then would be over $520-$620 million (i.e. a $480-$590 profit on a $30-$40 million investment, which is not bad). That's not insane at all. They only stood to lose $30 million and as it turns out they stand to make more than a half a billion.

I guess I might as well point out that its domestic total has officially passed BvS.

I haven't made too much attention to this lately but I take it that it won't make another $100 million to pass Aquaman then.

A lot of the media talk has probably done wonders for it. That'd be a great opening for this. Spider-Man Far From Home did $92 million in its first three days. $92 million? I still haven't seen Spider-Man Far From Home, still not interested. I'm not hating on Tom Holland either. I haven't even thought about that movie until you brought it up. I doubt anyone would remember that movie 3 years from now.

This is shows how disappointing and heartbreaking BvS and Justice League was. There is a need/demand for DC properties if done well or hell even average. Those 2 should've been Billion Dollar movies easily. BvS was a terrific movie, but bad (and stupid) hype surrounding it just killed its box office exponential parable. Said that, it was a big hit all around the world. "Justice League" was a butchered/damaged movie, the Batman scenes were the only ones really good. No Snyder, no quality. Batman vs Superman and Justice League had a lot going for them technically speaking. The execution was rather lazy and devoid of emotional connection to any of the main characters Superman and Lex. They tried reinventing the story of Superman/Clark and Lex Luther, but at some point, they lost focus and reverted to standard generic plot and action sequences. They were just going through the motions whereas the real innovation was invested into Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Gale and Jason brought a fresh approach and enough mystery to their characters. Again, same thing with Justice League. It was awful.

I missed when he Tweeted that so I'll leave my comment here on v2. "No problem, Todd! You are very welcome!! Thanks for giving us that awesome movie! You rocked it! Was amazing from beginning to end. I watched it twice, will buy the DVD. I hope it wins as many important awards as possible! "

Its worldwide has now passed the worldwide gross of Aladdin (2019). Not bad for an R-rated movie that didn’t get released in China.
