Experiment in Terror Lots of local interest in this one. Scenes set at Candlestick Park, outside Alioto's Restaurant at Fisherman's Warf, the Bay Bridge, Chinatown restaurant, etc. One scene is set in an artist's loft.

Pacific Heights So cool looking... Saw that one in the theater when I was a junior in high school. The internet says that house is not in Pacific Heights but that "the actual film location for Drake and Patty's house is in Potrero Hill in San Francisco, specifically at the corner of 19th and Texas Street." I guess the big brains thought Pacific Heights sounded cooler than Potrero Hill.

There was another film planned by Brad Bird which was going to be about the 1906 earthquake. Like a sprawling historical drama/disaster movie a la Titanic. I think it was shelved.

The Man Who Cheated Himself (1950). Fort Point. Also where Kim Novak's stunt double jumped into the bay in "Vertigo." There are many other classic era films that were set in San Fran, but whose shooting never left L.A. sound stages or locations, viz., : "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) - Except what appears to be stock footage The "Mr. Wong" five film series starring Boris Karloff (1938-1940) "The Falcon In San Francisco" (1945) "Nora Prentiss" (1947)

Herbie: "The Love Bug" (1968) & "Herbie Rides Again" (1974)San Francisco, was the home in both films, for many of the characters, as well as Herbie... Among the many locations that can be seen in the films.... Herbie can be seen driving down the "Winding Road" (Lombard Street) in the first film, and driving along the top of "The Golden Gate Bridge" in the second film... "Bumblebee" (2018)It seems like "The Golden Gate Bridge" attracts Volkswagens... Well, that was before Bumblebee became a Camaro and met up with Optimus Prime on the bridge itself.

Stranded (1935) Frank Borzage. An excellent romantic drama starring Kay Francis and George Brent. With a San Francisco setting that includes the building of the Golden Gate Bridge which opened in 1937. The film showcases amazing city vistas & footage of the construction. Brent plays construction engineer Mark Hale, seen in the pic below with drawing plans over dinner with lovely Lynn Palmer. There used to be some great film stills of the bridge building but they seem to have disappeared ?
