House of the Devil and The Innkeepers are both fantastic. Dude's just doing TV now. Such a shame.

And not very good TV, his episode of Scream sucked.
Shane indeed, I also thought The Sacrament was pretty decent.

I don't share the love for The Innkeepers though I really enjoyed House of Devil.

Sounds like a rapper’s name, but other than that I need to see his films. House of the Devil looks most interesting.

That’s exactly why I’m interested in it. I think it’s for the best to use actual old cameras for making it feel like a 70s/80s film.

An interesting experimental horror. Creepy rather than scary, but definitely worth a watch.

Ti West emerged at a time when VOD and DTV were the "cool indie thing", you got your movie on iTunes or under the IFC Midnight banner and people would see your movie and call you the next John Carpenter, then A24 and Netflix originals emerged and we were introduced to the likes of Robert Eggers, Jeremy Saulnier, and the Duffer Brothers and guys like Ti West and "Radio Silence" just couldn't compete with the big boys. Not to say House of the Devil, Innkeepers, or VHS don't hold up, they're good horror movies, they're just not ready for primetime players.

It's not like him directing one episode would've turned it around. He didn't write the script or have a ton of creative control over it. Usually when directors do a TV episode it's basically like making a Cheeseburger etc. There's really not much to it. They are given a script etc., film it, and go home.

Yeah, and even more so they are walking into a series with an established look, tone, and Lso and established crew. They're generally there to make things go smoothly, collect a paycheck and in the case of someone like Ti West, he's learning how to be a director for hire. He has to make it in someone else's style as the tone and look have been set before hand. Unless you're shooting a pilot, you don't have that much to do with the final result.

Gotta pay the bills between gigs... Hopefully he will have something new in the works soon.
