The six time winning director has been spending nearly two decades trying to get his film produced. I suppose it's nice he may get this project going but it sounds like a Heaven's Gate/Toys in the making. TEXT: CAA has signed Francis Ford Coppola, the six-time Oscar-winning writer, director, and producer. The agency will help Coppola mount his epic project, Megalopolis, the drama set in New York about a master architect and city design czar’s grand vision to create a utopian city of the future. Coppola has been ruminating on this project for nearly two decades, and even shot much of the second unit footage of architecture and street sounds and scenes, just before the destruction of 9/11 brought the project to a halt. Coppola, who had spent several years making small personal films, found the spark to return to Megalopolis as he made new cuts of Apocalypse Now and The Cotton Club, with new cut of The Godfather: Part III also in his plans. His production company, American Zoetrope, which he co-founded with George Lucas in 1969, continues to produce films and television, and CAA Media Finance will arrange the financing and represent the distribution rights to Megalopolis. deadline.com/2019/10/francis-ford-coppola-caa-signing-megalopolis-the-godfather-apocalypse-now-1202754892/

He, like Spielberg were better off as work for hire director instead of taking the auteur venue.
Usually Duel, Jaws, Godfather 1/2 remain at the top of their most-acclaimed films, no matter how much more money they had decades later.
I wonder what he can do to improve Godfather 3. He should find an actress better suited for the daughter and digitally replace his own. That casting sinks the film (I really do not believe he had no choice but to use her--he could have found dozens of obscure ones who could have been better for it in 24 hours.). George Hamilton was also a weird casting choice.
