I just tried logging onto the Dean & DeLuca website (figure now's a good time to start some preliminary Christmas food gift shopping). Well, I was shocked to discover that the site is just a static page - nothing else. I Googled some further info and discovered that apparently Dean & DeLuca has been in shut-down mode for several months now, and just today closed its flagship store in SoHo, NYC.
Bummer. I used to get some really good food-related Christmas gifts from them for years. I had no idea they were in trouble. Here's a (slightly dated) article about their troubles. This doesn't include the news about the closing of their flagship store, which apparently took place just today:

Damn shame. They were a great mail-order go to for all kinds of spices.
'Renovations' is practically retail codespeak for 'gone out of business'.
