Is life fair or just neutral? To me the term does not apply because life simply exists. If you substituted the question with rocks so that you were asking “Are rocks fair”, it’s clear the question really makes no sense. We try to apply meaning to our lives, but from a global perspective, life is just a formation of matter. There is no application of fairness to it. On our level we attempt to develop societies so that the quality of life can be the highest for the most number of people, but there is no real avoiding that somebody will be born with a birth defect or somebody will be in a train derailment and other people will luck out with the best whatevers.

That's what the natural mind thinks and believes. The mind cannot comprehend the utter cruelity that goes on among us.

Has anybody considered how most animals end up dying? It’s brutal. Not to mention intentional cruelty individuals have done to any types of animals including humans.

I agree, it's not the best of all possible worlds but until something better comes along. we'll make it due.

Just reconciling the first thought with the second.

If we mean strictly speaking within the perspective of society the sure we have social practices we consider fair or not fair. From a macro perspective though life is indifferent.

A husband is often amazed he married as well as he did. Several on Facebook mention it regularly.
