Watched the first series and then lost interest at the start of S2. That was my experience too. Not for any particular reason really. I just never kept up with it.

Are you a 'Dead Head'? Any fans still stick with it? I'm catching up with the opener that was on Sunday night. Used to be my favorite show years ago. I've tried to be a dedicated fan for years; however the show just doesn't feel the same without Rick and some of the old cast - and to be blunt Micchone has worn on me for years and her acting is horrific. Can anybody give me a reason to continue watching or perhaps recommend a new show? Do you still watch TWD? Yay or Nay Go! I'm absolutely into the Zombie thing. The question is not if there will be a Zombie apocalypse, but only when. Hence I prepare...like buying MREs...I should get a UK one tomorrow. I also have a stash in the basement etc. pp. But this show...it has no development, they still fight Zombie or make their runs for food etc. in T-shirt for Christ's sake, albeit the had riots suits since they had stayed at the prison. The zombie would pose actually no threat if you were clever, but they aren't. Their stupidity is needed to create drama and or "content"...to drive the plot. Why can't the virus evolve, get access to higher brain function, and allow the Zombies to develop animal like intelligence. Then, cleverness would be needed by the protagonists, and smart plots. They also shift forth and back between two tropes only: either functional psychopaths (governor, hospital, Negan) or groups that have totally lost it and become sub-human (terminus, wolves, the whisperer etc. pp.), they only difference is the gore and the drastic nature or actions of the new antagonists. There is nothing new. Why not venture into a phase were humanity overcomes the Zombie threat and rebuilds the civilization we once had, or they should come up with an end game. Like far smarter zombies that really brings them down one by one in an epic Mad Max like fight. One human stronghold falls after the other. PS: I stopped watching it with Negan...I mean, before he made hist first two kills. I didn't care. I had read his trope on a fan wiki and I was done.

Basically they're just rehashing everything over and over for years and are not coming up with new ideas to keep the show fresh and intriguing. Another poster (think it was Mr. Furious) pointed out this is Micchone's last season which intrigues me as I soured on her character years ago - so I'm hoping we get a new leader - i.e. maybe Negan or Daryl - or Maggie actually does turn evil - i.e. a swerve maybe we don't see coming. Or the return of Rick - perhaps a different 'Rick' that left us.

Anywhere any thread about TWD starts up has the standard "I stop watching this POS show back..." and I hate to be that guy but I stopped watching - it's boring, it practically nothing to do with a zombie apocalypse anymore and the worst thing is how absolutely stupid the characters are. I mean how many times can you go "why don't they just shoot him?" Zombies are supposed to be scary and if the characters aren't afraid of zombies why should we be. It's just about what villian is trying to kill everyone and how they get away with it because the people are complete idiots. I stopped watching as well as Fear the Walking dead which ended up being even more boring than TWD. Right now I'm watching Warrior, a cinemax show that came out earlier this year (supposedly created by Bruce lee but it's not true, just cashing in on his name). It's okay after 2 episodes, lots of fight scenes and nudity - my big complain is all the Chinese talk like they were raised in LA in the 2000s, not in China in the 1880s.

That's pretty much the way I see it - i.e. the zombies aren't a threat / scary anymore. Apparently per Mr. Furious in this post this is Micchone's last season - I'd like her to go out with the goriest death in the history of TWD getting eaten alive by a walker - that may restore some of my respect for the zombie storyline in this show which seems to have taken a backseat to the people vs. people angle years ago.

Not anymore. I was a big fan for years, read the comics before it was even a show...up to a point at least...then the show got real cyclical with its high and low episodes and once I got into another low stretch I dropped out. Sometime during the first big Negan season. Once the excitement slowed down to a crawl I bailed and haven’t really checked back in outside the occasional blurb about certain characters fates.

I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE LAST SEASON AND THE FIRST OF THIS ONE WERE AN IMPROVEMENT, THE WHOLE NEGAN THIG WAS TOO DRAGGED OUT.

So....this thread kind of lit a spark under my desire to continue watching the series and i recently picked up where i left off in season 7. I think a three year hiatus is exactly what i needed to get back into this series. Im enjoying it much more than i did when it was airing.

I stopped watching after season 7 due to boredom, but to this day I honestly can’t remember anything that happened after Negan bashed Glenn’s eyeball out.

I think I was "spiritually" out post Glen's Magic Dumpster but held on disinterestedly until end of the first Negan season before finally giving up.
Not sure if I was unique in just watching out of habit & to be able to read about how terrible other people thought it was becoming! The first sign that it was going downhill was probably the post Governor season when they split them all up and you had all these filler episodes with a couple of the characters on their own and nothing really happening. Just dragged it on and on for no real purpose.
Wish they'd written it to have a definitive ending rather than raking over it's own corpse again and again...

I remember the cliffhanger - the prior season - nobody knew who Negan introduced to Lucille
I pretty much just watch the show for Negan now and am curious to see what they do with Rick's return....

I thought it would go on forever... which it sort of is, considering there are like 3 or 4 spinoffs... do you watch those too?

Are there any zombies left? I saw a commercial for this and there were these dudes in bad stormtrooper cosplay or something. What's the show even about at this point? What is this, season 50? Looks like trash.
