He’s done. And luckily so for the Dodgers, as I hear they could be looking for a new manager soon...

Montgomery met with all the Phils players before making a decision to see if Kap should be retained. Guess they didn't like him

I think it was Nightengale who wrote a piece earlier in the season the Giants loved Kap and he was a possible replacement for Bochy.
As far as the Phils - if they were going to fire Kap - they should have just cleaned house - Klentak and MacPhail too.
Upper Management is more than likely just going to bring in another yes man - as Kap was Klentak's boy.

I think he 'tried' if that says anything. Signed Harper Signed McCutchen Traded JP and Santana for Segura Traded for Realmuto Signed Robertson Wined and Dined Patrick Corbin who spurned them. However the farm is abysmal. And I blame him, MacPhail and the scouts for that. We don't have the young talent the Gnats and Bravos have. And too much Phaith was put in old mainstays like Eflin, Eickhoff, Velasquez, Pivetta, Hernandez, Franco. I think for the fans a change of culture (I think Kap was a scapegoat to an extent for the players under performing - i.e. see Franco, Hoskins and the pitching staff) is necessary from top to bottom. Kap could never come back - fans wouldn't have it - but the stench of the old regime is still there with Klentak and Macphail - disappointed Montgomery just didn't turn it all over.

There's articles and blogs out there they may go after a trade for Mookie Betts. I didn't think they had the talent in the farm for that kind of trade but who knows. Gerrit Cole for #1 and have Nola at the #2. Hamels is a Free Agent again. Was screaming for him to come home at the trade deadline a couple of years back when he was had for nothing at the deadline by the Cubs and pitched lights out. Stick Hamels at #3. Throw some coin at Rendon too. Couldn't hurt. But if the Gnats win the WS - I can't see how he turns around and spurns them. But who knows - look what Kawhi did to the Raptors and money talks. Maybe the Phils could outdo Washington's offer.

Word is the SF Giants are looking to interview Kapler for their empty manager position. Gabe's personality fits more with San Fran than Philly. He got roasted here for his positive upbeat over the top personality. Even when they got shelled 11-0 - in post game pressers he'd take the positives out of game. It made 99% of people here nauseous. I thought it was hysterical and loved it. Here they just got their a$$ kicked and he's up there talking about bench player working the count and 'hunting' for pitches. His post game pressers are now a thing of legend here. I have a bit of respect for that. It's one thing Andy Reid would do too. He never gave the media anything. Was the last to throw somebody on his team under the bus. Who knows what he'd say behind closed doors - he could have torn the wallpaper off a room with his language screaming vulgarities and obscenities - we'll never know - but at the podium with the public he'd never be negative or throw his team under the bus. I'll miss ya Gabe and I'd like to thank you for your time here. I think I'm the only one.

Word is the SF Giants are looking to interview Kapler for their empty manager position. There's been a lot of managers who bombed (or were nothing to write home about) at their first jobs and won things at another
Casey Stengel Joe Torre Terry Francona Bruce Bochy Bobby Cox Tony LaRussa
I don't think Gabe Kapler will be on this list anytime soon

I didn't think they had the talent in the farm for that kind of trade but who knows. The Mookster won't bring the baseball equivalent of the Hershel Walker trade. No team is going to bankrupt their farm system for one year of Markus Lynn Betts.
I'm getting more and more irate about this. Betts should have been "that player". The next Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, Bobby Doerr. Not in terms of numbers but in terms of what they meant to the organization and the fans. Now it appears he will be the next Carlton Fisk, Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Jon Lester. How the fuck could an organization like Boston let this happen? Shit like this happens to Pittsburgh and Kansas City.

Keep seeing Dusty Baker's name as a potential candidate to be the Phillies skipper. I swear, I will cancel extra innings and never watch an inning of MLB again if that happens.

I saw they’re interviewing Girardi and Showalter as well. I’m fine with either of those two but not Dusty, murderer of pitching staffs.

Dusty Baker is one of those guys that within baseball circles he's beloved and respected. From fans perspectives he is the absolute worst. I get the feeling that he's going to be the hire as he will "command respect" from the players unlike an unproven Kapler did. At least I think that's how the team will try and spin it.

The only thing that gives me hope that it isn't going to be Baker is the rumor that Baker and Harper did not get along in Washington. If the rumor is true, I can't see Middleton hiring a manager that has negative history with guy he just paid $300 million.

Never heard that but if it's true than he'd be a massive moron to hire Baker without checking with Bryce first. No player should determine who their manager is but after giving Harper that kind of contract just last season you kind of got to check with him in regards to Dusty.

Just broke that the Cubs are interviewing Kap too.
Kappy knew Theo Epstein from his time up in Boston.
Be kind of sickly hysterical if Kap got a managers job with the Cubs/Giants and knocked the Phils out of the playoffs next year.

Dusty Baker had his second interview with the Phils. Buck Showalter and Joe Girardi are scheduled for second interviews. It looks like it will be one of those three.
