If he did it in his Fred Jones voice and costume, worth it. "People bitch about the dumbest things. These are archetype characters, these are George Lucas' words. There is no Jack Bauer in Star Wars, that character doesn't exist, it's not Han Solo, Han Solo's a reluctant hero, that's the archetype. Darth Maul, who everybody wants to win, and is everyone's favorite because he looks sick and he's great in the video games... f**k you guys! He's Sisyphus! He is born to fail! Learn your Greek mythology like, I don't know, George f**king Lucas did! He's cursed to roll a boulder up the hill only to have it roll to the bottom again every single time for eternity. That is Darth Maul's quest. He's in on the joke, you guys. He knows it. He's just cursed to live that life." "Luke Skywalker is Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty! He can talk to things that don't speak English, and he understands what they're f**king saying, he gets a fairy godfather instead of a fairy godmother, who teaches him how to be the best Jedi in the world in no time f**king flat." "There's no such thing as a Gray Jedi! Qui-Gon even says, 'I turn towards the light because it's there.' There's no gray! That's pretend fanfiction sh*t, which is cool but don't try to canonize it because it doesn't work, and I'm never going to buy it, ever. Star Wars is for kids." movieweb.com/star-wars-rebels-rant-freddie-prinze-jr-angry-fans/

I wouldn’t call killing Qui-Gon and almost killing ObiWan “rolling a boulder up a hill and having it roll to the bottom again every single time”, but okay. Dude!... Okay, nothing I can say right here would be more appropriate than Jan El Señor ‘s tag line. Take it away, Jan. You know what else was “pretend fanfic s#!t”? Instantaneous Force downloads! Until JJ Abrams wrote it into Rey’s character. Thanks for the semi-humorous, semi-entertaining, spasmodic rant Freddie. But if I’m totally honest I’ve seen better rants. Even here on this forum. movieweb.com/star-wars-rebels-rant-freddie-prinze-jr-angry-fans/

Also the timing is odd too. Why now? Not too long before the movie is out

Ok... Well, he's correct about the archetypes. There are about a dozen character archetypes and a handful of storylines that every writer structure their story after (whether they're aware of it or not). These archetypes go all the way back to ancient times. For example, The Matrix is just a "retelling" of Plato's Allegory of the Cave, but most don't realize that (possibly don't even know about Plato's work), so it's consider "unique" and "original". However, just because there's archetypes doesn't mean fans can't give their opinion on the story telling. It's useless for him to get so bent out of shape over it - people are going to do it whether he likes it or not. Also, his comparison of Luke Skywalker to Sleeping Beauty is a little silly as Luke, as far as ancient archetypes go, is the "Regular Guy" or "The Orphan" who gets thrust into unusual circumstances. Meanwhile, Sleeping Beauty is not a regular gal...she's princess to the whole kingdom! Far from an everyday person. A better comparison of Luke to other characters in literature is Aladdin, Frodo/Bilbo Baggins, or Harry Potter. Finally, Prinze says that Luke understands what other characters are saying who don't speak English. Outside of Jabba and Bib Fortuna, I can't recall this ever being true in the OT. He has to rely on C3PO to translate for him or his X-Wing (for translating R2). He certainly doesn't understand Ponda Baba or the Ewoks.

Luke also didn’t understand Wookiee. Only Han, ObiWan, and C3PO did. So for all of the Luke/Rey comparisons, this is another example of Luke having room for character development and having limitations that Rey does not.

Luke also didn’t understand Wookiee. Apparently he learned Wookiee and droidspeak after ROTJ. Lol. Actually, it seems everyone in Disney Star Wars all of a sudden understands astromech droidspeak....
