If Admiral Ackbar's Son shows up in "THE RISE OF SKYWALKER" then as small as that is, I think that it still would 100 Percent mean that JJ Abrams, Chris Terrio, and George Lucas are indeed trying to undo (as best as they can) what Rian Johnson did with "THE LAST JEDI".
Would you agree ?

Heck, JJ Abrams even said (on camera) that it was George Lucas's idea to bring back The Emperor in "EPISODE 9".

Which one? The average Mon Calamari has thousands of offspring! Ackbar has over 10,000 children. That's canon!

Well, it sounds like they've abandoned the " fans are racists, misogynists, etc. for not buying whatever we give them!" in favor of this " It's all George's ideas!" argument. They really trying to wash their hands of this poorly put together trilogy. Even if that is Lucas' idea (The Emperor coming back), ideas are only as good as the people carrying out the said idea. In other words, an idea can be great, but have a poor execution of the idea (i.e. Luke being on the island could have been great in competent hands). Having said that...the Emperor coming back isn't a good idea. Oh well. I suppose they don't have much else to work with when the fool killed off the trilogy's big bad in the second film.

JJ Abrams is an Excellent Filmmaker (His 2009 "STAR TREK" convinced me of that) and also he and Chris Terrio brought George Lucas on board during filming to help them re-write the 2nd and 3rd Acts of the Movie.
Supposedly though (and I don't know if this is true Mike Zeroh said it in 1 of his YOUTUBE videos so I really don't know, I actually do have some doubts about it), George Lucas actually directed 1 scene between Rey and Kylo Ren.

Hmm... Well said. Again, well said. And oh so true. The concept of Luke being on the island in self imposed exile wasn’t bad. (After all it worked with Yoda on Daggobah). It was the execution. Swallowing Luke’s reason - momentarily contemplating a repeat of his father’s behavior aka killing a youngling/padawan (and also his nephew) - was a very divisive and arguable character arch. But Rian Johnson didn’t stop there. For all of the complaints of prequel Anakin being too whiny of a departure from the OT Vader; the over-the-top level of curmudgeon with TLJ Luke may have been an even bigger departure of OT Luke. Yeah. The problem is that they’ve devoted 2 movies to establishing that Kylo Ren is no match for Rey. The only baddie who is a match for her is killed off in TLJ. So where do you go from there? Suddenly making Kylo a match (or slightly superior opponent) might be a hard sell for being believable. At least they seem to be smart enough to recognize that they’ve painted themselves into that corner. You either introduce an entirely new apex baddie in the third act (risky), or bring back the nostalgic Palpatine. The trailers and rumors seem to suggest as much.

2009 Star Trek may not have always hit the target with genre purists, but it was solid and Abrams best sci-fi film. It was a blend of originality and nostalgic rehash. It did a respectable job of marrying the new series back to the established canon and rebooting the franchise. If TROS is Abrams SW equivalent then it might put out some of the subversion fires of TLJ and feel like a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, if not the entire saga.

Bringing him on for the final movie is too late. It's like bringing in the strongest Chess pieces after the game is over... What they should have done is actually listen to him, Mark Hamill, and Colin Trevorrow when they tried to give their input. Especially the first two who have been with the franchise since the beginning.

The 2009 " STAR TREK" is the First Movie that I have ever seen that started off as a Prequel, then as a Sequel (with Spock Prime, Nero, and Nero's Crew being from the 24th Century and the Regular Star Trek Universe), and then at the end of the Movie as a Reboot.
