Shame. The trailers looked pretty good. I enjoy Will Smith in dramatic roles too.

What I know is, Ang Lee's first movie after Life Of Pi, Billy Lynn's Halftime Walk, did the opposite of setting the world on fire. He may have hit his peak.

1st trailer made it look like laughable garbage so I'm not surprised at all. What's the budget for this one?

i saw this in HFR 3D. it was pretty cool, but also looked like a home video which was distracting. the action was pretty cool. but otherwise dialogue was a little too cheesy and cookie cutter. i felt like i was watching a souped up version of Hawaii Five Oh. then i fell asleep (bc i was tired) during probably the best action parts, and ending was corny AF with young Will Smith talking like Fresh Prince of Bel Air as if he were actually Carlton Banks instead of himself. girl was pretty cute.

Will Smith appears in like 5 movies a year now. Dude needs to slow it down.

Not a lot of love for Will in this thread for some unusual reason, I must have skipped the mass genocide of Jews and the LGBT that he masterminded while I was asleep.

I honestly hadn't even heard about it until this weekend. Paramount is keeping all the marketing dollars for terminator.

It was fine for a throwaway actioner. Solid cast with some fun side characters, a few decent action sequences. The writing isn't particularly clever, but then they give away the entire plot in the trailer so there's nothing new to discover by the time you're actually watching the film. That isn't the movie's fault, but still. The vivid look of the film either works for you or it doesn't. The CGI Will looks pretty bad at times. It isn't a must see, but it wasn't tedious to sit through. I'd go 5/10, the definition of an average action movie.

As for the movie itself, I doubt it will make anyone's list of 10 best action movies ever, but it was entertaining enough.

I recall that hate bandwagon really accelerating after the release of “After Earth”. The common excuse I hear is that he makes a lot of flops. I don’t remember Ryan Reynolds suffering the same level of rancor or backlash during his five-year losing streak after Green Lantern.

I don’t remember Ryan Reynolds suffering the same level of rancor or backlash during his five-year losing streak after Green Lantern. Will had hits from the beginning and he proved to be a serious actor relatively quickly. Practially every movie he worked in was a critical and/or financial success for like 15 years. His flops felt very unusual for him. Ryan rose to stardom with over-the-top comedies and action movies where he was the comic relief. He didn't display his talents as often as he should have, so not many people took him seriously as an actor. GREEN LANTER was his first solo lead role in a major studio movie, so it being a flop wasn't that much of a surprise. He didn't have that many lead roles after that, so if they were critical and/or financial failures it usually wasn't his fault.
