Who's watching this slasher-themed season? It's getting pretty convoluted, as this show tends to do, especially after the October 9th episode. What was the point of the ghost hitchhiker? Up until then it was based in reality, which I liked.

I have never seen a show where so much happened and yet was so boring. Ryan can't tell a story without getting in his own way. I'm watching with others otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I am but I don't think Jonas is a ghost. I think he's stuck in a time loop.

The recent reveal of one of the killers could be seen coming from outer space due to the character's odd personality. I am loving the 80's soundtrack songs though!

The intro is awesome. Also the aerobics scene in ep1 seemed over the top but I watched an 80s movie recently and it was the same scene.

The intro is awesome. Also the aerobics scene in ep1 seemed over the top but I watched an 80s movie recently and it was the same scene. Aerobics in the 80's was basically the safest available porn for a teenager in puberty. There used to be a show called 20-Minute Workout, shot with soft lighting and women gyrating in some way or other to music. It was notoriously popular with my 7th grade buddies and I. The opening brings it all back!

I'm watching it, but by the show's standards, there are definitely better seasons than this one. Like you mentioned, it's convoluted. This season took a nose dive for me when they started with all these twists with the characters and what bothers me most is I have a feeling the producers and writers think they're being so clever with all of that nonsense. I went into the show thinking we were getting a tribute to Michael and Jason and it turned into a big mess.
Ryan Murphy did the same thing with Scream Queens....the show couldn't have just one killer...there were two or three and all that does is *bleep* up the storyline and aggravate the audience. That's my opinion of course.
I also want to add that I get the feeling they're trying to compete with Stranger Things with all the 80's references...etc...especially with that intro. The difference for me is, when I watch Stranger Things I feel like I'm watching something made in the 80's. When I watch AHS 1984...I feel like I'm watching something made to reference the 80's.

I watched a bunch of 80s slashers to prepare for the season and this isn't an 80s slasher. I see the intro and then see this show which is about as authentic as The Goldbergs, with occasional anachronisms and wonder if maybe it's not the 80s.

After another HUGELY disappointing season watch (Apocalypse) of another season of this terrible anthology series, I vowed NEVER to watch another minutes of it. A huge waste of time with rushed, silly endings.

I just started watching as I've only just realized I have the season on demand on FX via Sling. Only two episodes in and I'm disappointed a bit.

I'm caught up now. I like the vibe of it and everything but it got waaaaay to convoluted and silly. Every character has to have some overly absurd back story that explains that they really aren't what you thought and now there's like a ghostly purgatory element but they just interact with people normally. It's too many disparate weird fucking things at once.
I think I might have really enjoyed a straight ahead fun slasher story.

I think I might have really enjoyed a straight ahead fun slasher story. I literally groaned when the first bit of supernaturalness occurred. They couldn't just do a straight-forward slasher story? I didn't mind the twists in the story that weren't supernatural, but ghosts and the devil belong in another horror story.

Will watch it through, but the worst of the seasons I've seen so far.

Anyone see that homage to the boy in the lake scene from the first Friday the 13th in the 11-6 episode? This season has jumped the shark long ago, and this was unnecessary. I had such hopes for this season, I love slashers, but it all went too far. At least it's over next week. Not the worst season though, that would be the Roanoke season, IMO.

Just caught up last night so I can watch finale on time. What a wasted opportunity this season has been. I really wish they went straight 80s slasher route.

The season is about to wrap up and it's turned out terribly. I expected that this season would be filled with nostalgia and bring back some good memories for me. I lived through 1984...and there was very little 1984 in this season. In fact, the show even did a time jump and the show doesn't even take place in 1984! So much for expectations.

It seems dumb to have a time jump to 1989 when the Title has 1984 in it. Ryan Murphy must sniff glue!

I stopped watching AHS after Freak Show, and I couldn't even finish the first season of that fucking Scream Queens. Being a slasher fan and not having a lot of options, I was thinking about watching this, but these replies have me tepid that it suffers from the usual Murphy pitfalls of convoluted stupidity.
