I suppose, generically, they are both lovers on the lam narratives, so there's that in common - not to mention the scoring.
badlands (1973) 8 true romance (1993) 6

Saw both a couple of times....stylistically very different - so it depends on my mood. Probably like them both equally. 8/10 - 8/10

4 me... BaDlands is BeTTeR. BADLANDS is an American classic. TRUE ROMANCE isn't, but it is a whole hell of a lot of fun, and the casting is brilliant. BADLANDS: 10 OUT OF 10. TRUE ROMANCE: 8 OUT OF 10.

Three related movies are: Gun Crazy (1950) dir: Joseph H Lewis, which surely influenced both of the OP's titles: Bonnie and Clyde (1967) dir: Arthur Penn, more of a mainstream title than the others: Natural Born Killers (1994) dir: Oliver Stone, which plays with the tropes of the four earlier films, and can be read as a critique of "Bonnie and Clyde".

I've only seen bits and pieces of Badlands but I really liked True Romance.
