Admin I could make a Movie Quotes board... You could but it would probably be a ghost town. These threads are really popular and used by many who don't even know that the games boards exist. I should probably put the Trivia and Games board up back top near General Discussion. It doesn't really fit with the other "General Boards" that are more topical.

I don't understand why new threads are created in response to those threads you start. Isn't that why they're spread out all over the place and in need of a Table of Contents with links to their locations? I'm sorry for the confusion. My point was that these are the only quote threads in Film General, and as BATouttaheck says they are very popular.

anyway .… I have run out of pennies … am sure that anything you two come up with I am sure will work. Admin thanks for taking the time to work on this with alpha128 who is really the mastermind and organizer of this whole fun aspect of the board. You might even try it yourself … it's fun to read but even more fun to play ! I'm not creative or clever enough, but I have to admit I found some of them brilliant.

oops more : Admin said :I don't understand why new threads are created in response to those threads you start. Each new thread is a whole new game. For instance Trekky Office would require quotes from Office Space with Star Trek (or other ) illustrations Trek Wars would be Star Wars quotes with Star Trek Images The Trek Falcon. Maltese falcon quote / trek images etc Each one a stand alone THREAD but indexed in the pinned thread (the ToC thread)

Admin .,. you think it's difficult now .. when they first started, the OP just posted a quote without even a HINT what the quote was FROM and they were often something really confrontational. Part of the fun was figuring out that it wasn't just a call-out thread and what movie it was ! It's much better now and alpha sends PM notices when a new game is posted !

I feel a sense of authorship with the threads I create, and I would imagine the other thread creators feel the same way.

Being the MC, then, how would you feel about a Movie Quotes board that you can moderate and sticky as you please? I don't see myself as an MC, I see myself as a founding father, thread creator, poster and record keeper. People don't ask my permission before starting threads, they just do it. Really the thing I spend the most time on is the record keeping. So while I appreciate you extending me this offer, I'd rather not. A separate Movie Quote board is probably the fastest way to kill the whole thing, which I don't want. These threads have brought countless people joy for almost two years, and to date we've had one person complain. So I don't understand why a single sticky thread is such a big issue. Thank you and I really need to go to sleep now!

Thank you and I really need to go to sleep now! I see you as someone who apparently just spent a considerable amount of time and effort to search and create a "complete list of all one hundred and twenty-five threads" with links to all of them in a nice HTML table which you wouldn't have to do if they were all in one place to begin with, let alone a board that already has those rows and columns. You already have a great start for a new board with a concept that is popular and already somewhat established on this forum. Baker's Dozen doesn't even have 125 threads. I'm actually trying to help you out here. I'll even put it in a more visible location. And since "new threads are being added at warp speed," it seems to me that having a dedicated board for them is not a bad idea. We could at least try it on for size. I think the worst that can happen is moving them back into Film General if the new board fails. You don't have to moderate it if you don't want to.

I see your point that if we created a separate board for this, I wouldn't have to do the maintenance I do now. I really like that idea - a lot! However, the fact that these threads have exploded in popularity is a clear indicator that lots of people like the current arrangement. I'm concerned that any change might be analogous to turning a popular thoroughfare into a one-way street, and then suddenly half the restaurants and shops along it go out of business. However, maybe we could create a sub-board under Film General that contains these threads? I would gladly sign up to moderate it. Maybe these threads have achieved "critical mass" and can stand on their own. Yes, I'm definitely warming to this idea. How about I do a poll over in Film General and ask the users what they think? No point in creating a dedicated board if no one is actually going to use it.

It looks you got all 125 I listed in the sticky thread. FYI, the following five threads have been created since then and will also need to be moved. Movie Quote/Star Trek: TOS Threads #126-130 Did you make me the moderator of the new board?

I thought I'd check with you first to see if you still wanted to. As I was moving those threads, I was thinking... Aren't they more like mashups than quotes?

I think of the posts as "illustrated movie quotes". But yes, since you're combining the movie being quoted with Star Trek images, there is a mashup factor to it.
