Given all the prices and acclaim I was prepared to be blown away. Instead it was sleep inducing. If you have seen the Dennis Quad movie THE INTRUDER, than you have basically seen this movie. I almost agree...

In my top 5 movies of the year. Bong Joon-Ho is a master at creating a weird, tense atmosphere. It's almost like a play that explores family, class divide and wealth. Fabulous film 8.5/10 but it felt so mundane in its theme. like class divide has not been done before...?

To each their own, but I personally strongly disagree. I think it's the perfect example of a movie that gets a ridiculous amount of acclaim & praise and somehow still meets or even exeeds those expectations. I don't say stuff like this often, especially when I haven't had a lot of time to process it yet, but I think it's one of the most thrilling, funny, tense and entertaining movies I've ever seen. funny? entertaininm? what in it did you find funny? i have not laughed once maybe i smiled once or twice but most of rhe movie o was disgusted. I guess the author was going for that so it worked, but it felt like it was just rehashin a very used theme “rich vs poor” without adding much new unless you count all the poor peope being of worse character than the rich people as new. which i guess it can be. so there maybe that. still found it a very offputting and slightly boringg. But very well made and looking pretty that is true.

I'd be quite surprised if a better film is released this year. I thought it was tremendous, funny, gripping and shocking - and such a crowd-pleaser, the kind of film that plays beautifully with an audience. funny? crowd pleaser? boy did we see a different movie? my association is disgusting and slightly boring.

And if you've seen Gladiator, you've seen The Fall of The Roman Empire. Yet I'd still recommend seeing both films because it's alright if films cover similar ground. l I do agree with this. So Parasite not covering anything new js not my main gripw with the movie. But the movie failed to make me feel any other emotion other than disgust. Now if that was the directors aim then goal achieved. but it dodnt feel like the good (thrilling) kind of disgust. felt more like Hustlers. Empty disgust.

It wasnt bad. The trailer was a little misleading but I hovered sometimes uncertainly above the boredom clouds for the entire duration of the film. Humor was nearing tacky at times, or just too tame maybe, and it maybe could have been shorter. Also a little bit too soapboxy, but maybe that's what makes it korean. It did a good job of conveying a tragedy with no real villain and depicting obejectivly at that. what do you mean no real villan? the poor family was consisting of villans only. what did the rich people do to anybody in te movie? as far as we saw they treated and paid everybody well took care of their loved ones and the guy worked for the money. and they were slaughtered by a family of low lives. then being poor aside they were just horrible people who were willing to abuse and murder other. IF they lived in a society where getting a job for 4 healthy people with at least 2 pretty smart ones was impossible they felt to how it. the one sentence about one job and 500 applicanys is not enough for a family to go on a murder spree. hell 500 applicants per job feels pretty normal

It was the result of an escalation in this perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances.

they were fine to endanger someone’s life even before that - by giving peach fuzz to the housekeeper Twice in spite of knowing she had Severe and lif threatening allergy... I simply struggled to feel sympathy. Plus they didn’t even fold the pizza boxes right. Lazy conmen with poor moral compass from the beginning.

Maybe that’s why I found it a bit boring (even though it was well made on all crafts). You knew from minute one what it was going to be about and there was no other theme.

Down to a 7 for me. Really good time overall but the parts that don’t sit well with me really don’t sit well with me. Yes, very overrated overall, how the hell is this rated as highly as The Godfather with the folks over at Letterboxd? Bong’s best work is still Memories of Murder

Fabulous film 8.5/10 but it felt so mundane in its theme. like class divide has not been done before...? So only films about new things should be made now? What awful logic. And if you felt it was mundane, then I really don't know what sort of movies you're after. Try Michael Bay perhaps.
