I was fine with how it was in the early 80’s with 37 channels. There is too much now. Though I do have Netflix and amazon prime

So I basically just do searches when I think of something specific

Yeah, the hell with streaming services. if I am going to shell out $ for movies and the like... I would be pretty much bluray or nothing as this way you can watch it whenever you want and don't have to worry about a internet connection etc and not to mention bluray is the best quality to.
Exactly.
there are wayyyy to many generic channels as a large portion of it is just filler(i.e. crap).

We need to stop paying for these GD streaming services. Netflix is 13 bucks a month, 156 bucks a year, and 780 bucks over a 5 year span. And that's not counting all your other streaming services! Aaaaand...you never stop paying! Ever! You never stop paying to stream shit you don't even want to watch, and you don't even own the shit your endlessly paying for! It's just madness! /rant I agree that there are too many of them. I do have Netflix, and someone else in my household has Amazon. And dammit all if I'm not gonna get that Disney+! I'm all over that like stink on a monkeys ass!
But yes, there are too many. And we cant order them all.
Pick and choose, my friends. Pick and choose...

Um, this is why I still have my DVD player, folks. I watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it, and I pay only a one-time fee to do so (or no fee if I rent it from the library). Like cable and satellite, streaming has gotten out of hand and the greedy are manipulating it for their own profit. Something it's a lot harder to do with pre-recorded media.

I agree. I don’t pay for any of these things. And I honestly can’t believe so many people do. To have access to all of my favorite shows and movies I would have to pay for ALL of these services EVERY month FOREVER? No thanks.
I can access my dvds and blu rays at any time. No extra cost. No endless subscriptions.

I avoid Blu Rays as I grew tired of having to buy my favourite films every time a new format takes over and like using my portable DVD player.

Streaming services are very cheap in India so I avail them. As a fan of sports and whose life's main pleasure (after food) is sports I have no choice but to subscribe.
I subscribe to: Hotstar Disney for watching all Disney content+ all F1 races, all English premier league games, all cricket in India and many movies and serials. I have subscription of Sony Liv which broadcasts UK cricket, Italian football and Champions League. I have access to NBA league pass for watching every game of NBA. I have access to fancode for watching NFL and German football.
At the moment these sites are very cheap but I know once India's market becomes fixated on above things then cost will skyrocket.
Is it ethical of sites if they start charging too high a fee for letting us see the content. I think no it is not ethical in such cases. Would I have a problem with streaming sports on illegal sites. Under certain circumstances I will have no problem with that. French football for example has no deal with any broadcaster in India. If a person wants to see French football in India then he/she would have no other choice than to watch it illegally.

I resisted upgrading for a while but it’s difficult to watch standard def nowadays because it looks so dated compared to HD TV. I don’t regret rebuying my collection at all, especially with older films that look remarkable on blu. A lot of dvds got bad transfers. I doubt I will upgrade to 4K though. And beyond that studies prove that the human eye can’t tell the difference after 4K so upgrades will be useless.

37 channels? Heck, we had about 7... Luxury! Until 1982 we had to make do with 3 channels here in the UK. We were in a major metropolitan area, so we had the three network channels (NBC, CBS, ABC), our local PBS station, and 3 UHF stations. Typical fare on the UHF stations were dubbed kung fu films on Sunday morning, and Italian gladiator type films at various times. Also, a lot of syndicated shows like CHIPS, Dukes of Hazzard. I believe one of them showed the Houston Astros games and Houston Rockets games back in the pre-ESPN and the plethora of sports cable channels.

It used to be $3.99 *per movie* to rent them at the video store, not counting late fees and gas. Calm your tits, boomer.

Plus the quality is sub par. Movies and tv still look and sound considerably better on blu ray.

I get Netflix free, HBO free, and Amazon Prime I use all the time for free shipping and groceries. I pay for Hulu and it's worth it.
