At work. When the news first came over the radio that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers I thought it meant somebody's Piper or other small aircraft. Didn't take long to discover otherwise.
I have a vivid recollection of the weather that day being beautiful, a really gorgeous late summer morning. Ironic, to say the least.

It was just before 8 AM, and I was on my way to work at a grocery store video rental department... When I first heard about it...
I turned on the radio in the car, just after the first plane hit, and it was "Breaking News"... I thought: "Well, I better turn on the TV when I get in..." But, it was already on when I got there... They was a lot of confusion, as to what happened and what was going on...
Just moments later, the second plane hit... In full view... And then we knew, this wasn't some accident...
And of course, things got worse as the day went on...
Customers were coming in all day, to pick up emergency groceries, and to get the latest news, and such...
I got off work in the late afternoon...
And I saw that EVERYONE was gassing up their cars, at price gouging gas stations, with long lines stretching down the street...

I was in bed asleep. My dad called and told me to turn on the news. The second tower would be hit soon afterwards.

At a laundromat. I heard about it on the car radio as I was leaving the parking lot. It was only about a minute's drive from home. I walked in and my family was watching it on CNN.

I was in attendance at a clients HQ w/one of my VPs. When we were all dismissed for the day, I found it quite eerie that there were no planes in the O'Hare corridor along the Chicago x-pressway...even tho it was a beautiful day.

I had a dentist appointment that day, so I got up early. I was watching the news about the first plane. I saw the second plane hit the other tower. I was shocked, but what really got me was when the first tower crumbled to the ground. It was a tragic day for the world. I say world because there were people from many nations in those towers.

getting ready for school. Returning home from college, & I cut through my local mall. I saw a whole bunch of people looking up at a TV screen, so I asked what was going on, & they told me that 2 planes hit the tower. I thought "Wow!!! what a horrible accident!!!!" Boy!!! Was I naive.

I had a bad stomach ache so stayed home from work. I had fallen back asleep when the first tower had been hit. Eventually my Mom called me and told me to turn on the TV just in time to see the second tower get hit.

We live in BC,Canada(west)Pacific time. I got up fairly early and turned to the news as I always did when my husband was at work (2 weeks away and 2 weeks home). The announcer was saying a small plane had flown into the WTC, but while I stood there the 2nd plane flew into the building. So it was deliberate. The announcer was saying as many as 50,000 people worked in the buildings. Then as I watched in horror the building began to fall. The horror continued though the day.
That night when my husband called home I of course told him about the events of the day, he asked me how much of the buildings were left, he couldn't wrap his head around my answer when I told him there was nothing left.

I was at work. We were not supposed to be listening to the radio but that didn't stop most people. My first thought was that the poor pilot had a heart attack and lost control of the plane but we quickly realized that something more sinister had happened. We went upstairs where we had a clear view of the city even though we were miles away and saw the smoking buildings. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. The rest of the day was a blur and going home was a shock because some of the dust had filtered its way uptown making the streets foggy and unbelievably quiet. No honking horns, no shouting voices.

I was at work. In Cary, NC. At an American Airlines reservations call center. The very call center that flight attendant Betty Ong called when she used the airphone from flt. 11. I was supposed to fly to London later that day. So, to say I have a unique perspective of that day is an understatement.

I was at home, still on summer vacation from school. I remember being playing computer when my mom came and said see the news because two planes had hit the towers. I remember that I was with my friends later that day and some parents were pretty worried about 9/11 being the beginning of something bigger.

On my honeymoon. Luckily, we didn't go to where I was pushing for... One of my favorite spots: "The Top Of The World" at the World Trade Center.
