Aliens look at us with the scientific detachment with which we regard slugs and insects.

I agree here maxwellperfect that's a great example here .
I guess we can only hope some of them don't think of us that way
and see us as equals but that's wishful thinking of course .
IMPO - I see all animals as wonderful & honest beings
even the ones most folks find disgusting or repulsive
like the slugs and insects as you mentioned here too .
Thanks so much for your reply .

Personally I think there are none (as in intelligent life from a distant galaxy etc) as what we(humanity) do see and experience are demonic in origin. but the world won't acknowledge that as they don't like Christianity etc so they will come up with any explanation besides what it probably is.

It would either be that or
take over this planet and try to enslave us if they were the mean ones of course
I guess we can only hope Jay that
they never show up here at all
especially the mean ones
we have enough of our own human troubles
without them adding more to it also .
If only they were all like E.T. then we wouldn't have to
worry about them either .

We're in a lonely corner of the Universe. All the technologically advanced alien civilisations are too far away to contact us or make us aware of their presence, let alone make a visit.

Carl Sagan said aliens would likely be friendly because any civilization that developed space travel would have had to survive an age of weapon development and if that didnt kill them off then they must be peaceful.
But they would have to be crazy to want to visit a nuthouse planet like this unless they wanted to bird watch (the feathered kind, not the Gemma Atkinson kind although we can't fault them if they did both).

Carl Sagan said aliens would likely be friendly because any civilization that developed space travel would have had to survive an age of weapon development and if that didnt kill them off then they must be peaceful. I only partially agree with that thought... In terms, of the main theme of "Star Trek"... Aliens just exploring the Galaxy to see what is out there... Then yes, There is a good chance that they would be peaceful... They would want to meet us, an learn from us... However, what if that is NOT what they are all about... What if they are looking for resources, such as Gold or Water or even Food (To Serve Man?), to help save their world, because they no longer have it! FIRST, it would depend on how easy it is to find EARTH like planets... If there is another one nearby at their next destination, they might simply go on their merry way, and leave us be... But, Maybe not... SECOND, If they have spent a lifetime, travelling 1000s of light years, to get to Earth... And they can't simply wait for another generation of descendants to find another Earth, they might not take "NO" for an answer. The truth is, we have NO idea, why they would be coming here, and therefor, we can't predict how they would be... We should hope for the best... But, plan for the worst... And "pray" to whatever being we wish, that we never have to find out! As for the "Ancient Alien" theory... If they wanted to destroy us, they could have done that a long time ago... And should have do so before we developed much of the advanced weaponry that we have now. So... Maybe... they are peaceful... Maybe...

While I'd say the odds of alien life is far greater than even the most optimistic would suggest... it's the odds of them being alive simultaneously as humans which is the glass half empty.
I know that's kind of a downer... but the universe's timeline is beyond comprehension & the odds of advanced intelligent life encountering one another has be nearly as long.

They would first be friendly, but after the military of earth attacks them they would turn evil and enslave all of us.

The safest bet is to say somewhere in between. Thing is this: They might be total and completely friendly, benevolent in every way, and they'll still be problematic to us, because...
A) Their superior technology will always put them above us. They'll have tech so advanced that some of it will literally seem like magic to us.
2) They will have ways we may never understand, and that will keep us at bay. For example: What if its their cultures way to eat their young? We'll never really get over that. Even if we try to ignore that, it will always be in the back of our minds, creating subliminal difficulties.
3) What about inadvertent problems? Such as what if they have germs that kill humans on contact? They're not doing it on purpose, but it'll still kill us.
There's lots of issues to consider, even with aliens that are completely benevolent.

This, folks, is why we would need scientists to make first contact, and NOT priests or religious peoples...

Oh I have learned that painful lession a long time ago
from where I lived my whole life .
The human condition has also taught
other advanced lifeforms about that as well
( that explains why the good ones stay away
and the bad ones pretend to be all friendly then invade ) .
The X-Files moto - " TRUST NO ONE ! "
