fat thor is childish immature writing. That's your Opinion. Mine is it encapsulates Rock Bottom for a Character. He is stripped of everything. Home, Hero status, looks, pride everything. Doing so where even the humor derived from the sight gag even strips away dignity for the character. Which is what depression does. They were able not only to get a laugh using a sight gag, but the use of that gag reinforces the depths to which the character fell. Wrong. fat thor is a poor choice of writing. any great writer would have said so. he is only fat thor because MCU is immatiure and has to be funny for kids.
MCU fans should stop making it about opinons, they ignore good writing.
This is how you handle depression in a mature way.
Xavier does not have to be turned into a clown. fat thor was a disgrace to good writing and kiddie.

Some people were fine with Fat Thor. Some even liked Fat Thor. But there are very very few people out there who actually liked Fat Thor over Ragnarok Thor, and we only got a very few precious minutes of that Ragnarok Thor whereas we got a whole movie of Fat Thor. So yeah, please bring back the most well loved version of the character. P eople would have loved it more if Fat Thor was more like Thomas Wayne or Xavier because those would be harder serious adult subject matters. fat thor was about keeping mcu kiddie funny. reason people don't like it. he is not the most well loved version of the character. the reaction so far has been negative.

Err no. While I agree that Fat Thor was written poorly, making a character into a glum, gloomy brooding obnoxious git is not always a better alternative. I wasn't really that impressed with Xavier to be honest, and I don't even remember what movie showcased a depressed Thomas Wayne. It was perfectly doable to depict Fat Thor as both funny AND deep. Unfortunately, the MCU was unable to do it.

Considering good/bad is an opinion how are we not going to make it about opinions. Unless you've come up with a way since you changed your name to The Nolan to quantify scientifically what good and bad art is, that is. Still can't just state your own opinion and let that stand can you? You always have to try and bolster your opinion with others opinion. Here's a tip. Your opinion is the only thing that matters when you are critiquing art. Not mine, not critics, not other artist, none. So why try and bolster your opinions with others? And you are an expert in Depression now? People deal with depression multiple ways. When I was 19 I gained 75 lbs because of depression. When I was 26 I lost down to 135 from 210 and 6'3". And just because they used a site gag to show how far Thor had fallen doesn't make it "kiddie" (btw the only people I've ever seen use that term are insecure edge lords and immature teens) It's just another layer. Yes it was played for laughs but it was also used to strip away the last shreds of the dignity/pridefulness Thor had left. Just because you can't see the layers doesn't mean they aren't there.

They wont make him thin again. Can't have an athletic blonde white guy as a role model. He was the butt of jokes since Avengers 1.
The only way they will take him seriously is if he announces he's gay.

I hate what they have done to Thor. I hate the silliness of it all. Thor should be done as dead serious, in my opinion. I want to see the Thor of the comic books, not this fat, depressed joke-cracking character they have made him.

I think the best balance would be that Thor is serious himself but his words are funny for others or that his actions have unintentionally funny results. What you don't want to do is make him a jokester.

Fat Thor was funny. But you don't keep telling a joke over and over, or at least you shouldn't. Back to Fit Thor.

As a huge Nolan fan it's kinda annoying me that you use the name of a great director and spew such unintelligible bullshit.

What I really wish is to see a Thor who can easily utilize his powers without being so damn dependent on a weapon for once. I also really want to see a Thor that finally matures and accepts responsibility as the king of Asgard. Based on the trailers we've seen so far of Thor L&T, I'm not quite hopeful.

Thor let himself go because he felt he enabled half the entire universe to be decimated.
I think he's probably over that now. Anyways, Taika will probably have him fat to open the movie... hell, we're even seeing long haired Thor again, & Chris supposedly got sick of that. All's well.
I do wonder wtf Thor's place in Phase 4 will be... he can't possibly die in his own movie to a non big bad?? Phase 4's climax, is Thor on that battlefield??

Fat Thor did serve its purpose. I have no problem with him staying fat...or becoming fat again...but his weight gain was due to his mental state following the snap and he seemed to get over that with help from his mother, Mjolnir, and the events of Endgame.

No. Fat Thor was one size fits all emotional struggle. They turned him into Volstagg after killing Volstagg. Why would Thor not remain Thor? Thor would be more likely to run headlong into battle to die a warrior's death so that he could go to Valhalla. But they needed him in the movie yet out of the way so Stark could do the glove snap.
