The Avengers is forever a CBM benchmark & cornerstone. Out of the gate, I will admit that its expositional team building doesn't fare as strong after countless re-watches. Esp. after being with this crew for countless movies in & out, the freshness of their initial chemistry is a bit dated. As for the rest, it's all such a huge credible step up from the rest of Phase 1 as a whole. The films The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Iron Man 2... they almost seem out of place after The Avengers. Loki has aged the finest from here, from a fairly harmless villain to such an entertaining foe, he's the real MVP of this movie. My favourite aspect to the Avengers & most team up ensemble movies, is we're never stuck tumbling around with faulty Iron Man suits &/or trying to convince Steve Rogers that he belongs. Iron Man's 2 intros here are each really nice landings - underwater as the last to appear like a reminder there's levity to come, & again in Stuttgart via AC/DC, those fun moments are what helps make the MCU so unique & entertaining. Thanos' reveal of course was the levelling up of this MCU's potential. I thought was great fun opening night to hear both oohs & ahhs because fcuk yes & some ppl also reacting because they maybe didn't know who it was but they should quickly do their homework. Thanos' macro involvement to come showed they weren't just going to keep pumping out fun Iron Man movies & warrior Captain America installments. My MCU favs: 1. Avengers: Age of Ultron 2. Avengers: Infinity War 3. Captain America: Civil War 4. Avengers: Endgame 5. Captain America: The First Avenger 6. The Avengers 7. Thor: Ragnarok 8. Guardians of the Galaxy 9. Ant-Man 10.Iron Man

It's become trendy to bash this film, but it's still probably the most fun I've ever had in the cinema.

I can't believe I didn't think Captain America's costume was too bad originally. It looks so goofy now.

It is still an excellent film. Dated? How?
The amazing thing is there is no fat.
My thing is does my mind wander? Do I think about the chores waiting for me when I leave the theater & there is no such dead weight to this film. There's no scene one could cut to make it tighter.
You can't say that about The Russos' work. There are scenes that could go to make the films tighter.
It is one of the best superhero films made.

An epic fun film that nothing was like it at the time. Still in the top tier MCU.

Another kiddie immature movie. I prefer intellectual comic book movies.

Still in my top five MCU films, I don't think it'll ever get pushed out. It doesn't feel dated as a film, though it feels dated as a MCU film because so much has happened since then. It was a game changer for sure, it's like there are two different time periods for the MCU; before The Avengers and after.

It was a game changer for sure, it's like there are two different time periods for the MCU; before The Avengers and after. I agree. In my opinion, this is the film that made most other film studios hastily run through all their properties in order to find a cinematic universe of their own.

It is still an excellent film. Dated? How? Their intros with one another, the expositional stuff. It's not as fresh. Maybe dated isn't the word, it's a countless re-watch thing.

I love Thor's entrance. Because Whedon is a comic book guy, he knows Thor by the comics weighs around 600 lbs so his landing is a solid thud. Which is why fat Thor doesnt work. The Russos, not being comics guys, didn't know Thor weighs like 640 regularly so that extra weight brings him up to what, 1000? That little cabin have reinforced floors to carry that weight. The Avengers Manor did. Tony had the floors the entire team accessed reinforced because of Thor & Hulk (who in his normal weight is well over 1000 lbs. Professor Hulk is lighter, but more than Thor. Asgardians are denser. Note while Thor ducks on the carrier from the bullets because he is being careful, when Loki arrives, he doesn't duck. All those bullets flying around & nothing hits him? Or is it Asgardians are built denser meaning they are bulletproof to a certain extent. (Maybe armor-piercing bullets?) Loki weighs 525. Lady Sif weighs arouns 425. That smile when The Other says that fighting humans is to court death? Before they came up with climate change Thanos, he WAS courting the incarnation of Death. Handing her the death of half the universe was to make her fall for him. She, on the other hand, is more interested in Deadpool. I saw it like 5 times in the theater. Watched it several times after getting the dvd. Not like Thor. Thor was 8 times in the theater, every day for 2 weeks when I got the dvd. Every weekend for another month... If a marvel film is playing in tv, I'm probably watching it.

Why are you discussing 30 yr old tv stuff? you must be new around here Nope. Joined 2/7/17 I tend to hang out on the politics board which is way more cutthroat than this one. I come here maybe once a month & when there's a movie out. I saw that film on tv when it played originally. I was happy for Thor getting exposure, but hated how they did it. When I was 6 I watched And
