Maybe so. My sense is that we aren't going to get that far. I've discussed this with trained scientists, and they're inclined to agree. We're driven to seek newer worlds, move onward and upward (as it were). It's human nature. On the surface of things this seemed inevitable, yet we have neither the time (on this planet), nor the resources (on this planet), to get too far into outer space.
It's a dream, and a dream worth pursuing, but is there a Star Trek kind of future in the making? I think not. There are limits to what man or any living creature (that we know of) can do; and there are things we cannot do, such as achieve immortality; as well as,--and I'm guessing here--bopping around the cosmos in a few million years.

Yes, that sounds about right. Many would argue with that, claim that so many other things have been called impossible that came true. This is so, however our scientific knowledge has vastly increased, thus it's easier to predict.
Of course one should probably never say never. I see no reason to get dogmatic on this topic. As with you, it's something I believe. If someone thinks and feels differently I see no point in attempting to change their mind.
In this it's much the same as belief in God. This, however, is more a matter of faith than something that can be proved.

I'm not sure what will happen. While I'm often a pessimist I remember that guy who said that the telephone would never catch on. I have a terrible memory for details myself but I can give one bit of advice. Remember that almost everything is unknown and do the best to map the things that you do know. Some things are too complex for one person to understand and for those we have computers but there is a lot we can learn just by making mental maps. I think that if we can come up with good mental maps then it's up to fate and the largely unknown nature of the universe to whether or not we succeed.
There are many near Earth asteroids with resources that we could use. But of course people are already looking at that from two perspectives. I think that it largely comes down to whether human beings or should their be cyborgs or AI soon decide to form an Earth-wide government that takes into account all the people and the whole biosphere. I think it's more likely than it first seems. After all, the majority of the Earth's religious people are willing to believe in a supreme being that sends nonbelievers into a hellish afterlife and a human-wide government is far less drastic by comparison. I think that our current geopolitical situation makes our future look bleak but if deep fakes don't send us into an existential disaster then things just may improve.
I think that there might be travel at higher fractions of the speed of light than we currently think plausible but I suspect that if faster than light travel is possible then it's a long way off. As for resources I think that there will be a buffer of places for discovery and spare resources in case of emergency. There probably will be good and bad but we will have to do something about the sea level rise and global warming if we expect to explore further in our solar system and if possible, beyond.
