Irwin Allen struck one last time. Oh good lord that was bad - Maltin refers to it as THE BLUBBERING INFERNO and WHEN IDEAS RAN OUT.... It made THE SWARM look like CITIZEN KANE Irwin Allen's disaster tentacles extended to TV with both FIRE! and FLOOD in the mid 70s, both of which employed some POSEIDON ADVENTURE veterans presumably hoping lightning would strike twice (Ernest Borgnine, Carol Lynley, Roddy McDowall) and got cinema releases here in the UK.
Canada got in on the act with
I'd highly recommend THE CASSANDRA CROSSING, which has a trainload of stars trapped with a deadly virus carrying terrorist on a high speed Euro express, guarded by army personnel and headed for a rickety bridge en route to a former death camp, where they can be quarantined. My kind of plot. With Lee Strasberg and the spectre of the holocaust to add gravitas, a machine gun wielding Sophia Loren leading the passenger revolt, Ava Gardner as an ageing BAREFOOT CONTESSA for some wisecracks and old time glamour, and a cast ranging from OJ Simpson and Martin Sheen (playing Ava's toyboy!) to Alida Valli and Burt Lancaster, it was a big hit and is quite bonkers but a lot of fun.
ADULT VIEWING ONLY
Sophia makes an ill-timed visit to Ava and Martin's compartment.... Yoga (we hope...)

I doubt NIGHT OF THE LEPUS (AKA the "Giant bunny attack movie") was what you had in mind when starting this thread... but it certainly qualifies as a "disaster"....
Here are some of the cast: The estates of Stuart Whitman and Janet Leigh have paid me to keep their images out of this post
This poster makes it look like a Luca Guadagnino reboot of WATERSHIP DOWN, no?

Well I think that may be the big problem here - who doesn't? Killer Bunnies is a plain case of miscasting.... almost any other animal - stoat, panther, badger... would be a better choice. NIGHT OF THE CAVY, with rampaging guinea pigs, just miight have been a less terrifying prospect. I say might .... not sure about "science's great mistake", but definitely one of cinema's...
