All in the Family too. When the Stivics left for California that was supposed to be it. But O'Connor talked Stapleton into coming back and I think the had talked Sally Struther into coming back to (Gloria leaves Meathead). But Struthers back out so they had to go the "new kid" route, ala the Brady Bunch. Didn't work. Never does

Miami Vice Should have ended season 3 Hill Street Blues Should have ended season 5 instead of 7 CSI should have ended after Grissom left. Happy Days should have ended after they left High School

Two on the above lists I wholeheartedly agree with: L&O:SVU and All in the Family.
SVU stopped bearing any resemblance to its superb parent series years ago, and has been little more than dreary soap opera and virtue signalling "#AllMenAreRapists" schlock for longer than is necessary to remember.
AitF: I find it hard to believe that a comedy creator as astute as Norman Lear allowed his benchmark series to sink to the device of employing the 'cute child who unexpectedly arrives and moves into everyone's hearts' ploy. Did no one tell the creative team it was time to quit when resorting to a page taken from The Brady Bunch? Did O'Connor have so much power by that point that no one had either the nerve or ability to take him aside and say "Carroll, with all due respect, this is a lousy idea"?
