The lesser known followup after the superb Marqueen Moon, what's your opinion on it? A very difficult album to follow up, I still think there's some great moments on it that can rival Marquee Moon (Days, Aint that nothin, Dreamers Dream)

The lesser known followup after the superb Marqueen Moon, what's your opinion on it? A very difficult album to follow up, I still think there's some great moments on it that can rival Marquee Moon (Days, Aint that nothin, Dreamers Dream) It's one of my favourite albums. I always feel like 'Marquee Moon' is like several years of coming up, and 'Adventure' is like the stark comedown. I like the band's arrangements, the instrumentation, the melodies across both albums, and especially their interplay. This second album draws me in like a restful cat, it's sedate yet invigorating, and always ready to pounce. I think the first few songs display the band in confident form, sensibly using the anthemic combat anthem 'Foxhole' as its centrepiece. I think the movement from the soft, lilting, ascending melody of 'Carried Away' to the probing rhythm section, layered dynamics and soaring melody of 'The Fire', which reminds me of 'Marquee Moon' closer 'Torn Curtain' in some ways, really sets up the adventure of the album's epic finale. But while 'Torn Curtain' worked its way into interstellar space like Voyager ascending, propelled by its glissando grace and suspenseful piano refrain, 'The Fire' plays out as distorted musical melodrama under the lights of twin guitars, with that jarring sci-fi sustain jutted throughout.
