stargazer1682 The Joker is not Batman's responsibility but he fights him constantly so if anyone knows how big a threat he is, it's him. Joker at one stage even killed Jason Todd. It doesnt matter who does it as long as the Joker is put down. Although in a way you are right, the Joker shouldnt die in a way because he's a constant villain to Batman and his greatest foe. In saying that in the realm of comic book land, characters are constantly resurrected so it doesnt really matter. There's an upcoming title scheduled to be released that claims there are in fact three Jokers so who knows what will happen with that ie no shortage of the man who laughs. Yes that video of Ace comes from a good story from the JL animated series, 2 or 3 episode run, cant remember exactly. Although you're ignoring the fact that Ace had an expiration date and is nowhere near as crazed as the Joker

I dont think a lot of characters were mentioned in the future, I remember you also mentioning Thea and Flash. What about the Legends or Supergirl too? Then again I havent really been paying attention to name drops. Perhaps Crisis will have those answers?

Batman making the choice he wont kill is one thing, but he often feels like he imposes that onto others as well, forcing a situation to remain cyclical to where more and more people die.
I think if they did a story where Batman's personality is revealed to be less genuine could be interesting, like he recognises in his hubris to be Batman he made the city worse off, so now he resigns himself to his fate to wage a unending war on the supervillains he brought forth, knowing he cannot end them or someone worse will take their place as they took the place of the crime families, his harsh attitude to Dick and the others at times revealed to be intentional to make them hate him and the life, so they don't commit to a life of this, but then how do you explain his continued recruitment of children? damn you Brucie you are so messed up. No not you Forsyth...R.I.P.
I have no finish to this bit...goodnight.

Like I said in my post, the conceit is that Batman doesn't kill, yet the Joke is always a threat; so the task of a good writers has to be to find a compelling and believably internal logic for why those two conceits can be true. Some do it well, some don't. Same for why he has such young partners; there needs to be a reasonable contrived purpose, but too often writers, even in the comics, just gloss over the rationality of allowing a teenager to be in harms way like that. I've likened Batman/Bruce Wayne to essentially being Don Quixote, if the delusions were real. I've often thought that "Impossible Dream" could just as easily be Bruce Wayne's anthem as Don Quixote's - "To dream the impossible dream. To fight the unbeatable foe. To bear with unbearable sorrow. To run where the brave dare not go. To right the un-rightable wrong. To love pure and chaste from afar. To try when your arms are to weary. To reach the unreachable star! This is my quest, to follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into the hell for a heavenly cause! And I know if I only be true to this glorious quest that my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest. And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star!
