Does anybody know if either Ram-30 or HappiPuppi might still be with us? They were both active on the Trivia & Games Board. Ram-30 I especially remember because he created the "Top 10 Silly Movie Titles" game, and also because he was such a patriotic Canadian. HappiPuppi (I know he had a numeral included in his name but I don't remember what it was) could be annoying at times, but he was so enthusiastic, it was hard to stay mad at him (which made his screen name appropriate).

I recall whacking HappiPuppi over the knuckles a couple of times, but as you note, he was pretty innocuous overall. I also came to the conclusion eventually that English wasn't his first language, which made me go easier on him. I don't think he's around here--his style was fairly noticeable and inimitable. One user I miss was MaddyClassicFilmFan. She was gracious and very fun to talk with, and knew her films. She and Trevor Aclea (another who I don't think made the move to this site) are two CF regulars I miss a great deal.

I forget what his exact user name was, but that guy who was known as the Hermit. He was famous for posting celebrity birthday wishes, even for obscure actors. Anyway, it's been said he passed away as well. I think I remember him. If I can recall, he'd wish porn stars happy birthday. I knew he had died, but I forgot his name. Is there any truth to the rumor that Aperilla died, or is that just bullshit?
I remember seeing a lot of Happy Birthday topics created by him and some even replying over the years. His last post was on Rod Stewart's board before Hermit passed in January 2006.
Dude really liked his porn.

Anybody else remember a poster named Bill Creighton? He was an artist and writer, originally from Brooklyn, who went by the username of Stoney-11. He grew up in NYC, lived in Nova Scotia for a while, and spent the remainder of his life in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania. Stoney posted at IMDb for a long time, and was also member of Nytram's board for a decade. He was hospitalized for major health problems, and later died, in 2014, at 67. If you Google his real name, you will find his website, with images of his work, and a memorial board, where comments can be left. Stoney was pretty crazy, and he could be a really snarky bastard...but he told some great New York stories. And he was one helluva painter. Monk

Soapbox: Yoyoofloco - Killed in plane crash, 2011. Irate_customer - Suicide, 2015. CloudofSouls - Terminal illness, 2013. PKLarkins - Cancer(?), 2016. Politics board: Clubriddick - Heart failure, 2011. Video Game board: Apollo_08 - Died in combat in Iraq, 2008. I don't remember Yoyoofloco but I did recall hearing that someone died in a plane crash. Purple Monkey Dishwasher, a former IMDb user who's long gone, mentioned about laughing about his death hoping he screamed as the plane was crashing. He must have been a bad POS. Irate Customer? That was the psycho who used to shout at people? What a mental midget.

I suppose someone’s getting some jokes ready for when PMD dies.

I always say the bans and deletions on IMDb boards were completely automated, and they were for the most part. But after StKildan died there was the usual nonsense of the trolls attacking him. I was surprised that IMDb swooped in and did a mass banning of the hater trolls. I don’t believe it was ever 100% automated. Remember when threads from other boards would end up on The Soapbox? There was a great influx from the Game of Thrones board one night which was hilarious to behold.

I guess every once in awhile one of the clerks would get up off their ass and look at the boards if they got too many complaints. But as a rule, there were no live mods. I remember Ben putting pics of women doing scat porn as his avatars and it wouldn't be deleted for days. Yeah it's not like they had anything else to do.

Yeah it's not like they had anything else to do. Moderation on that site was a joke. Do you remember Ben's scat porn avatars? No reputable site allows that. There was no oversight. Perhaps good people should have used the report system instead of just letting the bad guys abuse it.

I remember them, they were appalling. One featuring a girl with a facial and a dick beside her face stayed up for three days before anything happened to his account. The next one was much worse than that, and it lasted a couple days too.

There was also Neemark (or whatever his name was) using porn images as avatars. I believe they came from 4chan to disrupt the site for whatever reasons control their lives so deleting them only added to their love of drama. There was also off-site material being posted about users and Col Needham so I wouldn’t be surprised if they just gave up on us.

Ram-30 was the probably the nicest guy on the games boards. Always helpful and usually able to offer a solution to any problem that arose in a game. I posted exclusively on the games boards except occasionally on a few boards dedicated to specific films. I hate to say it but I had nothing but trouble with happipuppi13 from the very beginning although I can understand why some might have considered him "delightful". I was very surprised (and somewhat relieved) that he never came over here. I can be pretty certain of that since he was quite predictable and very unique and I have never spotted anyone like him on this site. Other very nice people who made it over here were mrsehj, ellynmacg who we all know, jervistech, ledostef (now known as sandgrownun), mattgarth and brandomarlon. I did not recognize the names of those people mentioned who have died.

Thank you, Divtal, for all the info about Ram-30. I just wondered, because he left the original IMDb before it folded up, and I had no idea where he/she might have gone. However, I keep thinking that HappiPuppi might have been in ill health, since he* stopped posting, IIRC, even earlier than Ram did. Anyway, I had good reasons for asking what became of those two, since I regarded Ram-30 as my mentor when he advised me on creating some games of my own (under the screen name of tobian85)...and I regarded HP in some respects as a protégé, because he was such an enthusiastic player, first of Ram's games, and subsequently, of mine. HP seemed especially fond of my game of "Film and TV Characters' Greatest Hits." *That one's gender I was sure about, since he started signing posts as " Mr. HappiPuppi".

Perhaps good people should have used the report system instead of just letting the bad guys abuse it. There will always be a few sociopaths like Ben on any site. Most posters, and most posters who used the report system, considered themselves "good people". There were a lot self righteous reporters who thought their opinion was right and anyone who disagreed with them should be silenced. That's human nature. The fault lies with IMDb and nobody else. I can't imagine either sociopaths like Ben or self righteous serial reporters getting with away on Redditt or Rotten Tomatoes or the Data Lounge with what they did on IMDb. I meant proper good people, not self righteous jerks who also abused the system. The nature of the boards changed over the years and the admin were not up to dealing with it. Pagg posting the collage of old Soapboxers over at Filmboards reminded me of just how open most of us used to be in the old days but a lot of that has changed due to user activity.
