The Hobbit.
I'd left Primary school, had 3 Months off before Secondary School (assuming these terms are still relevant), it was a beautiful hot summer, spent it sunbathing, drinking iced lemonade and reading the Hobbit.
And I've spent the rest of my 35 years trying to get to a stage where I can have 3 Months off work doing fuck all again.

Hell of a book for a child to be reading. But I read Papillion by Henri Charriere when I was twelve and that is my favorite book from my childhood.

Not surprising, I guess. I had to read The Pearl by the same author in 5th grade.
