just got back from a brutal day of shopping, shoprite and walmart, four hours,a good bit of it me wandering up and down aisles half brain dead going by what i was looking for anyway, shoprite had the cornish hens frozen, two hens for $8,tyson. i asked the meat guy who was doing my pork roast if they ever got fresh hens and he said not really, folks just don't buy them often enough to keep fresh. 2 for 8$?!! nice! i hope to find that around here. how are you going to cook them?

We're cooking this year. The traditional stuff: Roast turkey stuffed with root vegetables and apples and rubbed with garlic butter. Mashed taters. Corn. Stuffing. Homemade gravy. Sweet potatoes(mostly for my kids). Dinner rolls. Butter in the shape of a turkey. Pumpkin pie from scratch(and by scratch I mean I'm going to but a pie pumpkin and cook it up). Pumpkin cheesecake. Apple pie.

what are you fine folks serving up for dessert? I'm buying a New York Style cheesecake from Publix, the small one that has no graham cracker crust. Its very good. I think its the one they advertise as organic but I have no idea what makes a cheesecake organic - they are all very fattening and unhealthy but soooooooooooo good!

Not hosting this year but we hosted our Friendsgiving last week. Had stuffed mushrooms and antipasto for apps. Deep fried turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread sausage stuffing, corn casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, & rolls for the entree. Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, & cheesecake for dessert!

Got my 2 free turkeys with a bunch of other stuff, too much to list today.Gave the 19 lb to my downstairs neighbors, along with a lot of the other stuff that was doubled up. I kept the 13 lb frozen bird. The mrs spent her eighth day in the hospital today (spinal surgery) and she won't be home for turkey day as she has to go to rehab for 2/3 weeks basically to learn how to walk again.I will be alone so I won't cook the bird for awhile. The downstairs folks will make me a platter of basic T day menu. On a side note, today I made the first roast beef in years,a top round on sale this week.First in years because she will only eat beef super well done and I like my beef bloody.
